When choosing bridges, consider your capabilities and your style
Walkways are an important and useful garden accent. Even if you don't have a pool or stream in your garden, a bridge can always be found. Bridges are built across streams and streams, through drainage ditches and holes in the landscape.
Visually captivating, the bridge can provide a passage from one part of the garden to another. You need to be sure that the bridge is useful and will lead to the intended goal. Disappointment is possible if expectations are not fulfilled at the end of a pleasant walk. Well-planned walkways are a satisfying addition to the garden, both as a scenic point and as a useful device. It is important that whatever landscape structure you plan is to suit your taste.
Bridge styles in terrain
The style and size of the bridge depends on the position and overall style of the landscape. A bridge connecting the banks of a narrow stream, drainage groove or "river bed" of dry stones can be quite simple, uncomplicated: you can get by with a long croaker, a simple slab of stone, or massive wooden planks. Their ends are reinforced on the banks, connecting both sides of the stream. The bridges, surrounded by railing of thin poles on the sides, look quite simple. They are especially attractive in wooded areas.
Rare bridge styles that provide safety and peace of mind. Tall, fantastically curved bridges are typical of Japanese gardens. Their striking feature inevitably grabs the attention of visitors. Semicircular bridges and the like are used in humid places with an open water surface. Fantastic and sophisticated Japanese gardens are often linked by crooked bridges to separate sections of the garden.
In Western European countries and here, bridges with a less extreme bend are chosen. Typically, these bridges are decorated with unusual design of side rails or railings. Some are quite simple, others have openwork carved or molded decorations.
The bridge is a surprisingly convenient occasion for introducing unexpectedly bold colors into the landscape. Japanese-style wooden bridges are often described and depicted with a distinctive reddish-orange color scheme. In Europe and Russia, bluish green and white paints are popular for attractive bridge coatings. Usually, the wooden floor of the bridge is not painted, because constant walking on it quickly erases the paint. In addition, the unpainted floor provides a pleasant contrast to the painted parts. In general, the bridge appears to be floating in the air above the water.
