Last time, opening a new section, we went with you for a walk in parks of different styles. Now let's try to share our impressions of the walks.

The Petrodvorets ensemble gave everyone an indelible aesthetic pleasure, but when you sat down after a walk, you felt tired. The park in Pushkin will for a long time respond with a blissful feeling of touching nature and a very gentle touch of human hands to a living workshop of the landscape. Let's go further: Gatchina park. This walk will leave a surprisingly warm memory, even if the weather was not favorable for the trip. The coastline of the ponds, the hanging coils of old trees and the magnificent color of the natural stone of the main structure - everything will remain in your memory, except for fatigue.

One more walk - and another bright spot with a lot of features: Pavlovsky Park. The hilly terrain allows you to view the park from different level viewpoints. Everything here disposes to rest, and beckons, and calls to wander.

I think my feelings are similar to yours. And the explanation is very simple: regularity, splendor, dictate on the part of the human owner violates harmony, emphasizing the superiority of man over nature. And landscape-style gardens and parks are able to gently put a person in the place allotted to him. This is the very moment of harmonization: both you, Human, and you, Nature are good. When it comes to choosing the style of your garden, we will definitely return to the felt experience. I deliberately pause for a while for the gardener to reflect on the topic he has proposed.

There is such a thing as rhythm. Rhythm in music, rhythm in versification does not surprise anyone. How does rhythm appear in the garden? The simplest example is an alley. The number of trees and transitions, inserts will determine its rhythm. One option: planting one type of plant.

For example, we plant sticky ones - and walk along the linden alley. The planting density is determined by the physical data of the plant, we take into account the height, width of the crown, the style of the garden, which will tell you how the crown will form, the length of the alley.

Let's say that the alley should be about 200 meters, and we decided to land at a distance of 4 meters from each other. As a result, we plant 50 stickies on one side of the path. And now the years pass, the trees take on a majestic appearance, they are given the correct geometric shape.

Another option: we replaced every fifth tree in this row with a jasmine bush. Did you notice the difference?

The next option: four trees, a bush, an urban bench, a bush, four more trees. What did we do? They changed the rhythm. First one element, then a rhythm of five elements, then seven elements.

The question arises: which is better? In order not to be mistaken, let me remind you that the alley is 200 meters long. The first option is 50 monotonous stickies, the second is twenty modules, the third is sixteen modules. Each option has its own disadvantages and advantages. Severity and restraint emphasize the importance of the object, but do not dispose to relaxation. Let's try to take it on faith, but be sure to check your perception: a rhythm from three to five is perceived normally, over eight is tiring. A step is also presented here, it is different in three variants.

Almost everyone can ask: does my six or twelve acres have anything to do with the alley? To the alley - no, but to the rhythm - yes. Imagine that you decide to arrange a bed of annuals. All the previous reasoning is easy to apply for this type of flower garden.

Since the season is already in full swing, it will be appropriate to change the topics of our conversations and build them not in importance, but in timeliness. It is most logical to start with the soil: healthy soil produces healthy plants. The physical and mechanical composition of the soil on the territory of your site will require a separate discussion. Soil acidity problems always exist, and each gardener has his own tricks with determining the acidity of the soil, his own means of dealing with it. But the landings have already been made, so we will deal with the real issue during the season. I ask you to take note of one very serious point. We often hear from gardeners that the ground is covered with moss; the first thing that comes to mind is acidity. However, the correct answer: lack of mineral nutrition.

Remember: when and in what quantities were mineral fertilizers applied there, what fertilizers do you use, how much your plantings have received and absorbed nutrition in recent years.

Today, almost every gardener has the opportunity to photograph his site and plantings on it. Photo can be of great service to us in the redevelopment of the site, in the decoration of utilitarian objects.

If you seriously decided to change your site, then I ask you to take a camera and do the following: choose the center of open space; there can be four such points on the site if your house is in the center. If buildings are offset to the boundaries of the lot, then the center of the open space will coincide with the center of the lot. We stand at such a point and take eight shots, turning each time 45 degrees around our axis. Repeat this procedure from time to time. What is it for.

Unlike the human gaze, the camera is impartial: it will clearly show all the advantages and disadvantages in the line of sight. Often the eye gets used to some little things, or, say, the presence of a non-decorative object in the garden is so deeply rooted in our memory that we don’t perceive the space around us differently. And when the photos are neatly folded, and you show your estate to someone, you suddenly notice that you often have to explain to them the presence of an object that does not fit into the overall picture. The conclusion will come by itself: it is better to remove this item or decorate it - plant a liana, bush, large tree. The benefits of this will be apparent very soon.

One more moment, which is not mentioned, is not written, and even a rare gardener catches it. When you create a composition, please keep in mind that the sky is also a part of your wealth, like the earth, like plants, like a reservoir. When thinking about a new composition, include the sky in it. How to do it? And you dream up. You can raise the flower garden. You can underestimate the point of view. Natural relief can be used. I have friends who have arranged their garden with amazing love. The character of the garden is representative, expensive, mixed in style with the use of sculpture, there is a beautiful, large pond with a cascade and a bridge. A sense of proportion is present. The garden is nice. Zoning is thought out. But there is no sky.

Choice of style. In addition, I note that the structure, that is, your house, will dictate this very choice. A log house will require natural surroundings. In such a garden, a wattle fence, a well, an ornamental garden will be appropriate. In an urban garden, such details may look out of place, although an urban garden is a mixture of styles. A mansion with columns will prompt the need to create an artsy regular or landscape garden.

Rhythm can be present in the construction of a garden, but it should not tire.

The lack of mineral nutrition will certainly manifest itself. You need to feel the quality of the land.
