On October 7, the hospitable Big Concert Hall "Oktyabrsky" once again hosted gardeners from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. They gathered here for their traditional holiday, which completes the summer cottage season - "Golden Harvest - 2015".

The day before, it got colder, and gardeners, gathering at the site in front of the BKZ, animatedly discussed the weather: whether the frost will get stronger or the autumn warmth will return again. They worried about the plants that remained on the plots and were not yet completely harvested - the daikon of July sowing, late cabbage, the last cucumbers and tomatoes that remained in the polycarbonate greenhouses, for roses and other ornamental plants and grapes that were not yet covered. They still lived with the worries of the season.

But, once inside, they plunged into the atmosphere of the holiday, which was prepared specifically for them. Gardeners spread around the foyer of the first floor, stopped at stands and displays. Near the improvised "cart", in which there were selected pumpkins and zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes, other vegetables, apples, symbolizing the harvest of the gifts of our land, many participants of the holiday willingly took pictures, although they themselves probably gathered no less weighty and beautiful harvest for their ares.

A lot of women were near the stand where the craftsmen from the home carving studio worked - there is such a studio in St. Petersburg. Its members mastered the art of turning potatoes into roses, carrots into tulips, pumpkins into a whole colorful composition with the help of special knives and knives. And in confirmation of their skill, the women from the studio turned vegetables into masterpieces right in front of the audience. Baskets with ready-made unprecedented vegetable bouquets stood near their stand.

And in the foyer of the second floor, the guests of the holiday were delighted with their skills by amateur artists - members of the children's ensemble "Khitryushki" and professional - artists of the folk show of the group "Koleso". The latter so captivated the audience with their original performance of folk compositions that even after being invited to the hall, many remained to listen to the last song of these artists.

Then the celebrations continued in the hall. Congratulations from the best gardeners and those people who help make their life easier, alternated with performances by artists.

In general, gardeners of St. Petersburg and the region are a powerful force. Here are the numbers that were on the stand in the foyer:

2844 horticultures are located on the territories of 172 municipalities of the Leningrad Region and St. Petersburg.

Economic and investment potential of horticulture:

• the area of the territory of horticulture - 56,246.22 hectares;
• cadastral value - over 150 billion rubles;
• the number of inhabitants in gardening - 2,400,000 - people;
• the property value is more than 540 billion rubles.

Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Sergeevich Poltavchenko, who came to the harvest festival, spoke about the important role of gardeners in the life of the city and the country. He noted that last year they harvested more than a hundred tons of various vegetables and fruits. This is a significant addition to the table of citizens. In addition, gardeners organized the collection of vegetables and fruits from their sites for war veterans and socially vulnerable groups of the population. And in summer cottages, thousands of children are resting and gaining strength. They gradually become involved in the work of their parents. The governor stressed that the city authorities understand the importance of what gardeners are doing. Petersburg was the first city in the country to develop and adopt a special program to support the horticultural movement. Much has already been done to implement it. G. S. Poltavchenko assured that the city will continue to support gardeners,help in the construction of roads, outpatient clinics, playgrounds, in the electrification of gardening.

And there were many more congratulations and honors of the best. And the artists - the Ensemble "Tricky", the folk show "Wheel", singers Yana Leontyeva, Ekaterina, Tatyana Bulanova and other performers delighted the gardeners with their bright performances. The concert ended with Dmitry Malikov's performance.
