Flowers Of Victory, A Festival Of Flower Beds In Honor Of The Great Anniversary

On the territory of Kuzminki Park, from June 25 to September 15 of the last anniversary year, the next, already the tenth, regional festival of flower gardens and landscape architecture was held. In the year of the 65th anniversary of the victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War, the theme of the anniversary festival was chosen as the most relevant, military-patriotic - "Flowers of Victory". The motto of the festival was chosen to match her: "From now on, all the flowers of the Earth to you, dear veterans!"

65 works were presented to the attention of the visitors, carried out by organizations for the improvement of territories and landscape design of the territory of the South-Eastern Administrative District of Moscow. The total area of the flower beds was about 10 thousand square meters; about 600 thousand annual and perennial plants were planted in them. Among them, marigolds, begonias, coleus, petunias, salvia, and cineraria dominated. Ageratum, cochia, celosia, carnation and other representatives of the flora were less common. Multicolored decorative chips and decorative stone filling were widely used in flower beds. Many landscape compositions included volumetric elements - models of orders, anti-tank hedgehogs, flags of various states, military equipment (cars, cannons, tanks, rocket launchers, airplanes), etc. In some works of the order, flags,St. George ribbons and various inscriptions were made directly from fresh flowers.

Despite the limitations associated with the given theme, the flower beds turned out to be very diverse in terms of color, planning solutions, constituent elements, mood, and concept. The names of the compositions created by specialists turned out to be very diverse: "Hero's Star", "I remember, I am proud!" Officer's shoulder straps, "Eternal Memory", "Normandy-Niemen", "Fireworks of Victory", "Map of the Central Front", "Defense of Moscow", "May 9", "Fatherland", "Order of Victory", "Guards Ribbon", "Defense of the Dnieper", "Glory to the winners", "Our flags over the Reichstag", "In memory of the fallen", "Army of the victors", etc.

I would like to dwell in more detail on three compositions related to the end of the war. In the composition "Yalta-45", the figures of the heads of three great powers - Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt - are seated at a round table within the walls of the Livadia Palace. In the composition "Victory Parade" models of Soviet military equipment are marching in orderly rows along Red Square along the walls and towers of the Kremlin. The touching composition "Renaissance" shows the world after the war - next to a modest wooden house there is a courtyard surrounded by a backyard, a vegetable garden, bushes of raspberries and strawberries, beehives, a birdhouse, a well-crane, a small pond overgrown with moss dugout, rusty remains of a caterpillar from a tank, almost hidden in the grass.

Flowers are the most peaceful means of expressing the memory of the past war. It seems that the veterans who attended the festival were pleased to feel such an expression of gratitude and eternal gratitude from the generations that appeared after the war. Thank you, our dear and beloved Winners!
