Country style, or, in other words, "rustic" - the most free and democratic option of the whole variety of landscape solutions. This is a garden for those who like large, bright flowers in flower beds, flowering fruit trees, elegant vegetable beds, simple garden furniture, natural materials of garden paths. True, such a garden will require a little more maintenance than a natural or landscape garden, but those who like country-style plants will be happy to take care of them.

The traditional Russian country-style garden is well known to each of us. Here, behind a wooden fence, apple trees, pears, and sometimes hazel are planted, brought by the owner from the forest. In a more southern version, the obligatory sign of such a garden is sunflowers, resting on a wicker fence, and rising almost to the very roof of a whitewashed mallow house.

However, sunflowers and mallow are a sign of mid-summer. And the country garden blooms from spring to late autumn - this is its special charm. In the spring, tulips and daffodils bloom here, then shrubs take over flowering, among which the largest and with a bright, thick aroma are lilac and jasmine. Summer is the kingdom of rose bushes and hydrangeas; towards the end of the warm season, phloxes become the dominant feature of the garden. The garden carnation is very good at this time. Poppies and bright orange capuchins (nasturtium) are appropriate here.

On rather neglected lawns, which cannot be called lawns, clover, bells and even dandelions may well grow. But large-flowered varieties of irises and clematis adored by many in the village garden are not entirely appropriate. In the fall, the owners of such a garden will be pleased with asters and large bright flower beds, the dominant of which can be dahlias,

rudbeckia, helenium. Bright yellow thickets of Jerusalem artichoke and "golden balls" along the fence look good.

Recently, in country gardens, such cultivated "savages" as yarrow, variegated willow, red-leaved plantain, and the like, have firmly taken their place in country gardens. When arranging a garden, it should be remembered that although the flowering in it is quite exuberant, it should look as if it is already a hundred years old.

In addition, it is advisable to pay tribute to the very first examples of such gardens in Europe by planting spicy plants in it and making at least a small decorative garden. The beds of lettuce, parsley and onions look attractive on their own. And if you decorate them with decorative cabbage and flowers, such as marigolds or feverfew, then all this will look no worse than a decorative flower bed. In such a garden, you can keep a greenhouse.

A very good solution would be to divide the ornamental garden into separate sections using low wattle fences and wooden trellises. In a stricter version, the gardens, designed by the English landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll, can become a role model.

However, the country style is not only about fruit trees, bright lush plants, beautiful red peppers, tomatoes, salads, green crops and very graphic pumpkins. This is a kind of accessories kingdom. The most common elements,

often referred to as "Americanisms," are cart wheels, straw stuffed animals, and decorative figurines. There should not be many of them, otherwise the garden will look overloaded with details, not real. A beautifully made well, a bright bench at the entrance to the house, a paved terrace entwined with maiden grapes, or a gazebo in a secluded corner will give it much more charm. Having decided to put a decorative cart next to the flower beds, think carefully about the composition of plants that will decorate it.

Flower plants or ornamental vegetables in tin containers - leaky buckets, cans, watering cans - look very appropriate in a village garden. It would be nice if all your "crafts" of this kind were accompanied by an element of humor.

The paths connecting different areas of the garden should not be straight. Their smooth curves will expand the space of the garden, and a

surprise may await at every turn. Granite screening paths are very appropriate here. And in general, the optimal material for paths in a village garden is natural stone. If the paving is made of concrete paving stones, you can slightly revive it by replacing part of the covering with granite or basalt paving stones. You can sink unnecessary gears and springs into a monolithic concrete base for the track, or make a track from old covers from sewer manholes.

There are not so many options for reservoirs for a country garden. It can be a pond in a rustic style, with banks overgrown with reeds, or a very small reservoir, created from a wooden trough or tub.

So, the country garden is blooming and fragrant, the satisfied owners enjoy the birdsong and come up with something else to plant so that it becomes just like in a picture from a fashion magazine. Such a garden is the best choice for creative people who are bored within the strict canons of the classics, whose hands are still trying to make a new bench or trolley, cut out a cute wooden animal and plant another flower, brighter and more magnificent than the previous one …
