Fishing tales

Once a colleague at work of my relative Alexander Rykov Oleg invited his boss Viktor Semenovich to go fishing. This boss is far from young, a respectable man, rather obese, but still very mobile, he has never been engaged in fishing before. Oleg seduced him with the fact that, they say, a forest lake is blue water, into which pines look like in a mirror! And the life-giving air is saturated with the aroma of pine needles and herbs! Here is the chief and intended to relax in nature.

Of course, he had no fishing rods (but how not to please the boss!), And Oleg, of course, gave him one of his float rods. I must say that from the very beginning Viktor Semenovich was rather cool about the fishing process. Having thrown a hook with a nozzle into the water, he did not follow the bite too diligently, reasoning like this:

- If there is fish in the lake, then it will definitely be caught! Regardless of whether the angler is following the rod or not. After all, she is not interested in the angler, but in what is on the hook.

In support of his theory, he could take a nap on the grass or pick strawberries in the nearest meadow. And when, finally, he remembered the fishing rod and pulled out of the water the ruffs and okushki, deeply swallowed by the worm, with a little finger the size, then, showing them to us or to those around (if any), he asked with a grin:

- Is it a fish? No, this is not a fish, but a fishy misunderstanding!

And not without difficulty, having freed the hook from the jaws of the fish, let them go.

Since Rykov and I often made fun of him (Oleg, of course, kept quiet: after all, the boss), Viktor Semyonovich lately, avoiding ridicule, preferred to stay a little away from us … high chair and resting.

That day, in the late afternoon, when the heat of the day subsided, we began to pack up for dinner. Our holidaymaker was the last to come to the fireplace.

- Viktor Semenovich, - Oleg turned to him, - where is your fishing rod?

- Sorry, - he came to his senses, - completely forgot about her, now, I instantly, - and he disappeared behind a bush.

We looked at each other knowingly: well, and a fisherman, and got down to cooking dinner.

… A few minutes later, Viktor Semyonovich came running and in a trembling voice gave:

- Guys, go and see - there is a snake on a fishing rod!

Rykov and I looked at him in bewilderment: this is not the first time we have visited this lake, but we have never even heard a snake pecked at a worm or anything else. Be that as it may, we hurried after Viktor Semenovich. When he led us to the place where the end of the rod was stuck in the ground, we saw that the other end was bent in a steep arc, almost touching the water.

Oleg took the rod, just in case, made a sweep (although, I think, it was unnecessary) and began to play the fish. The caught fish with force pulled the line to the left, then to the right, then suddenly stopped, rooted to the spot, not allowing itself to budge. But Oleg reacted in time to all her quirks. Only after about ten minutes the resistance of the fish began to subside. And the fisherman, albeit with difficulty, gradually brought her to the shore.

Viktor Semenovich, who was standing at the ready with a landing net, suddenly jumped away as if stung and yelled:

- There she is, there she is, the snake! - and he made a zigzag with his hand.

- Where is the snake? Rykov asked and, gazing intently at the shallow water where Oleg had taken the fish, suddenly burst out laughing:

- Well, and you made a rustle Viktor Semyonovich! It's … an eel!

And indeed, when Oleg pulled the catch ashore, we saw that it was an eel that was almost a meter high.

This is how the would-be fisherman fished out a fish that we had never been able to catch here. And although in the future Viktor Semenovich did not catch a single more or less decent fish, he, according to Oleg, constantly colorfully described to his colleagues how he caught this "hefty" eel. Moreover, the size of the fish increased with enviable constancy. Although where is the angler without it? …
