Viburnum brushes - an autumn gift
How often in the fall, walking through the streets of our or other neighboring gardens, I see bright red viburnum brushes everywhere. But rarely any of the summer residents will take advantage of these free gifts of nature. Most of the berries go to birds or fall off.
Our distant ancestors knew about the healing properties of viburnum and successfully used it to treat various diseases. And now, in folk medicine, extracts and infusions from leaves and bark are used for nervous diseases, seizures, and also as a hemostatic agent for internal hemorrhages.
The fruits are used for stomach ulcers, colitis and other gastric diseases, and also as a vitamin, tonic and diuretic. A decoction of berries is used as a diaphoretic for colds, hoarseness, bronchitis. The seeds can be used as a coffee substitute.
Fresh viburnum berries are not very tasty, but, seized by frost, they become quite edible. In addition, after boiling and stewing in a sealed container, the bitterness disappears.
Viburnum fruits can be preserved throughout the winter, for this you need to fill them in a box and bury them in the snow. Can also be stored in a glacier or in a cold, unheated room.

Store in a cool place.

Many people love stewed porridge and cakes from viburnum (viburnum). Viburnum keeps well dried. Viburnum berries are dried in the sun for 2-3 days in attics and other well-ventilated areas.
So, if there are viburnum bushes with berries on your site, find a use for them using one of the proposed recipes, and, I am sure, you will never regret it.
