Several years ago, I was looking for a plant for my garden that would help me hide a neighbor's barn, which stood close to my fence. He greatly spoiled the look of my flower garden, moreover, he created a shadow that many plants cannot tolerate. After a long search, I noticed a perennial plant with the resort name Evpatorium.

Knowing that it is not easy to grow perennials from seeds, I nevertheless bought a bag of seeds for planting, since I did not find any other planting material anywhere. In early April, the seeds were mixed with fine sand and sown in a box on the surface of the moistened soil, sprinkled with a spray bottle and covered with glass.

After about ten days, small shoots appeared. The seedlings grew very slowly. When a couple of real leaves appeared, I transplanted them into cups. In early June, she planted seedlings in a cold greenhouse and only the next spring planted them in a permanent place.

The first year, Evpatorium grew slowly, but in the second year, as soon as the earth warmed up well, a sprout appeared, which at the end of July reached one meter, and at the beginning of September it pleased me with a hat of purple flowers. Now Evpatorium is the decoration of my garden. It blooms when most of the perennials have already faded. From a distance, its bloom resembles a lilac bloom. After flowering, the plant retains its decorative effect until late autumn.

Later I found out that this plant also has another name - hemp sap. He also has popular names: noble, hemp, hemp, water hemp, horse mane, deaf nettle, kunigund grass, turnip, turnip, bullock, sedach, sedash, sidach, water dogs, royal grass, royal grass, fog, shaposhnik.

Sartorial varieties

Hemp sap (Eupatoria cannabinum L.) is a perennial herb of the Compositae family, 70-180 cm high, with an erect stem. The leaves are slightly fluffy, serrate, opposite. Baskets are collected at the top of the stem with a corymbose panicle. The flowers are reddish-purple. Fruits with a tuft. Roots and grass have a specific smell and bitter taste. Blooms in July - September. The genus includes over 600 species distributed in Europe, Asia, America and tropical Africa. In nature, hemp steep grows in swampy meadows, river banks and streams.

Flore Pleno - with double flowers. The height of 170 cm.

The variety Variegatum - with bright pink flowers. Height up to 75 cm.

The main types of stethosis:

Bone sap (Eupatorium rugosa). It differs from other species with oval, toothed, opposite leaves and white flowers.

Purple stew (Eupatorium purpureum).

Bone sap (Eupatorium maculatum).

Conditions for growing stethoscope

Hemp sap is an unpretentious plant, frost-resistant, but requires a little shelter in winters with little snow. Loves damp, swampy soils, but can grow in other areas.

Handle the plant carefully in early spring because fragile shoots can be easily damaged. The sapwood will grow only when the threat of frost has passed. Usage: In my garden, Evpatorium grows in group plantings, in the background of a flower garden. The plant grows better in partial shade, in the sun the flowers fade and acquire a dirty tint. Since the steep loves moisture, it is suitable for decorating the shore of a reservoir. A good combination of Evpatorium with hybrid solidago or Canadian. Hemp stew is used in homeopathy and traditional medicine.

Reproduction: seeds, dividing the bush in autumn and spring, and cuttings.

Collection and processing of raw materials: Roots and grass (stems, leaves, flowers) are used for medicinal purposes. The roots are harvested in early spring or late autumn. Leaves in spring and flowers at the end of the flowering period. Dried raw materials are used for the preparation of tinctures.
