In recent years, the young gardener Sergey Sadov has become known to many Petersburg owners of six acres, who have begun to grow grapes.

Having studied this culture well and mastered its cultivation in the open field in his country house, he began to promote grapes - he lectures in gardening clubs, conducts consultations at exhibitions, sells seedlings of this culture.

In August last year, members of our club "Usadebka" made an agreement with Sergei and visited his garden. It is located in the nearest suburb of St. Petersburg.

The trip turned out to be very informative. This site is dominated by two crops - grapes and lilies. The vines, planted on trellises in the open field, are very powerful, hung with clusters of berries gaining mass. What amazed me was that, contrary to the recommendations, the vines were set on high supports and at the time of our visit they were not pinched. This was done, of course, on purpose - the owners use long shoots for breeding varieties.

Sergey Sadov gave us a tour of the vineyard, spoke in detail about the varieties, explained how a grape bush should be formed in our climatic zone.

Sergey uses a standard, four-arm uniform. Last year, he described in detail his experience in growing and forming grapes in the magazine "Flora Price", now even beginners can do it.

A lot of lilies also grow on the site. Sergey's mother, Svetlana Olegovna Gracheva, is engaged in flowers. Both Asian and Oriental hybrids and other species of this beautiful plant grow in abundance in the garden. Everyone is in perfect condition, one can envy, and the beauty of flowers is extraordinary. It is very pleasant that the owners do not make secrets both from the agricultural technology of grapes and lilies.

Alas, I know from my gardening that many owners of beautiful gardens refuse to grow lilies - they just dig up the bulbs and throw them away. Moreover, these bulbs are absolutely healthy. But due to the damage to the buds by the lily mosquito, gardeners practically stopped admiring the flowering lilies. This is a real trouble: an adult insect lays its eggs in the buds, and the hatched larvae begin to feed inside the bud, spoiling and deforming it. Visually, the bud looks crooked, underdeveloped. Then it just falls off. With a large spread of the pest, you may not get flowering at all.

Sergey told in detail how to cope with this scourge. Here's what they do: when the lilies grow 10-15 cm, they are treated with Aktara. After 30 days - the next treatment, and after another 30 days - the third treatment. Aktara is a systemic drug. If you do not have it, you can probably use some other drug, but also systemic.

As a result of such treatments, lilies bloom beautifully - I could not see a single fallen bud.

At my site, I used this recommendation and received, for the first time in several years, a full flowering of lilies.

In rainy years, these plants are severely affected by gray mold. Svetlana Olegovna Gracheva had the same problem. Defeated the gray rot of lilies with another drug - Extrasol. It contains live bacteria that suppress infection, both in the plant and in the soil. It is desirable to use it for the prevention of diseases. But if the problem already exists, regular treatments are required. On the planting of lilies, Sergei spent the whole season processing. As a result, all plants are clean, without a single spot.

After the tour, we were able to buy the varieties of lilies we liked. They dug them out for us with flowers. Surprisingly, the flowers survived the move very well in the heat and, after planting, continued to bloom in a new place.
