At the beginning of my article, I talked about the path of potatoes to people and how their varieties are classified. Fans of the "second bread" may ask: where to get varieties that will delight you with a good harvest of delicious tubers.

I can reassure everyone: now in our region, specialized farms and shops offer a sufficient number of varieties that meet all tastes of gardeners and summer residents. One of such farms is Semenovodstvo LLC in the Gatchina region. It offers a very large selection of potato varieties. You will find a description of them below.

It is moderately affected by viruses. The variety is resistant to potato cancer. Tubers are white, round-oval. The peel is white, smooth. The eyes are small, superficial, pink. The digestibility is poor, the keeping quality of tubers is average. On cold soil, the variety grows. Tuber weight 86-133 g. Demanding on moisture, suitable for any soil. The optimum planting density is 6-6.5 tubers per square meter. Suitable as table potatoes as well as winter potatoes.

The nest is compact. Marketable yield 293-390 c / ha. The output of marketable products is 83-96%. The variety can be used for early production.

To obtain an early harvest, it is advisable to vernalize the planting tubers. Keeping quality is good. The variety is resistant to cancer, common scab, relatively resistant to late blight, unstable to golden potato nematode. Drought-resistant, tubers are not prone to early germination during storage. In the conditions of the Leningrad region, seed potatoes are harvested in the second decade of August with mandatory preliminary desiccation at a rate of about July 27-30.

They are harvested for seed purposes in the third decade of August with obligatory desiccation with a reglon two weeks before harvesting, otherwise mechanized harvesting is impossible, since the tubers are poorly shaken off from the tops. When grown for a longer time, the number of large tubers increases.
