Pharmacy bed
This season, I continued my experiment on the treatment bed. In the fall of last year, she put her in order: she cut off the stems and dry tops, weeded them out, poured good soil under each plant, but none of them additionally covered.
This was my serious mistake - I did not help young plants to survive the winter. Ruta had to be bent and covered with earth, and freed in the spring, and then the frosts would have been nothing to her. As a result, not all plants survived wintering, some of them suffered. For example, three varieties of thyme froze out over the winter, the burnet disappeared, and part of the rue and St. John's wort bushes disappeared.
As a result, a free space appeared on my apothecary ridge. I had to sow medicinal plants for seedlings again. True, medicinal chamomile gave a powerful self-seeding, and on the ridge, in the place reserved for it, it was only necessary to thin out the thickened self-seeding and leave the required number of plants.

Most of the medicinal plants on the ridge wintered well. In the spring I weeded the ridge, loosened the soil and left my doctors alone. The warmth and rains did their job, they all quickly began to grow. Before I had time to look back, motherwort and valerian increased a powerful vegetative mass and stretched out more than 1.5 meters, and then bloomed.
My husband began to worry because there were onions planted behind the medicinal ridge, and he kept reminding me that because of my medicinal herbs, the onions are now and then in the shade and do not receive the amount of solar radiation he needs, and this will certainly affect the harvest.
I had to cut the tallest specimens - motherwort and valerian. Even so, the ridge was getting better day by day. And the cut plants by the end of August had already reached half a meter in height, perhaps they will bloom again. This year, at the beginning of the season, I planted new plants in my pharmaceutical garden: anise, medicinal sage, sweet clover, bell, woolly astragalus, cornflower, cocklebur and some others.
Now the selection of plants for this ridge became more meaningful, I already took into account not only the implementation of my idea, but also the suitability of medicinal plants for my family in the future. For example, cockle thorns helps externally with skin diseases. Fresh leaves of this plant are rubbed and smeared with them on the affected areas. In my garden, in addition to the garden, there are many more medicinal plants, but they are located in different parts of the site.

It is impossible to collect them in one place, and even more so on the same ridge. But they organically fit into different compositions, go well with ornamental plants, some feel good among vegetables: the slug onion turned out to be a good neighbor for lemon balm and lovage; gorse grows well, adjacent to herbaceous cinquefoil. The serpentine mountaineer makes a wonderful duet with echinacea.

Alas, the area occupied by medicinal herbs is no longer enough for me, and I really want to continue the experiment. I even had to occupy a neighboring ridge. In the process of growing medicinal plants, I concluded that after all, the bulk of this group of plants requires a lot of sun, since not all plants feel comfortable in the shade. As for the use of medicinal plants, here I am not a supporter of uncontrolled herbal treatment.
We need to accumulate a lot of experience in their use, learn how to properly harvest these plants, collect them on time, properly dry and store them. And most importantly, strictly observe the dosage of the medicinal plant when used. Otherwise, you can get the opposite effect.
In the meantime, I do not have enough knowledge for this. Therefore, I do not undertake to treat myself and my household members. If I use something from this garden, it is very limited. At this stage, I am learning how to grow them and study the literature, and also just admire this garden every day! And I get great pleasure and positive emotions from this, and this is also a medicine for a person!

Creating A Garden Bed Of Spicy Plants And Salads
I had a dream: to create a decorative vegetable garden on my site, on which vegetables, and spicy herbs, and salads and flowers would grow. But my husband did not take this venture seriously, considering it another whim. But this year a miracle happened: my husband gave me a ridge on which watermelons grew last year. I was happy to have the opportunity to realize my project, which had been nurtured for three years. And so I started to implement it. I really wanted this idea to give results

The new season is still far away, many gardeners use this time to replenish their knowledge: by studying gardening literature or engaging in hobby clubs - floriculture, horticultural, landscape design. Each summer resident seeks to transform his site. Take the rainwater barrel, for example. It stands in a prominent place, and this place is always damp and unkempt. But it could be different! There are many plants that will willingly bloom in a "wet flowerbed" around such a barrel
