Nature is waking up - this is a whole theater with colorful decorations, fresh, saturated with all the colors of the rainbow. And the first actors of this magnificent theater are primroses.

They appear immediately, as soon as the sun begins to warm up, accompanied by active melting of snow, and here and there red, pink, and yellow flowers appear, as if afraid of something. Primroses deliver the first spring joy after a long winter with a monotonous landscape, they allow you to feel the spirit of spring, youth, and therefore they are especially dear to everyone.

Most of the early flowering plants are ephemeroids. These include such well-known flowers as woodplants, crested beetles, goose bows, anemone and spring cleaver. Ephemeroids are named for the similarity in their cycle of development to ephemera - annual herbaceous plants, in which it ends very quickly: it lasts only a few weeks. In such a short time, plants go through all stages - from seed germination to their natural death.

However, unlike ephemera, ephemeroids are perennial herbaceous plants, and their development cycle begins not with seed germination, but with the growth of perennial underground organs - rhizomes, bulbs or tubers. Ephemeroids are immune to cold, sometimes growing on very narrow thawed patches surrounded by snow. Immediately after appearing above the soil, the ephemeroids bloom very quickly, then, due to the presence of neighbors, they pollinate, form seeds and immediately begin to dry out, so that by the summer period they completely disappear from the surface of the soil cover.

Of course, not only ephemeroids appear with the first rays of the bright and clean spring sun. Around the same time, lungwort, primroses, rich yellow flowers of mother-and-stepmother bloom. They are less modest, do not go underground, giving way to their larger counterparts, and grow calmly throughout the growing season.

But why do some plants appear immediately, while others are delayed in development for whole weeks, or even months? It turns out that everything is very simple - the sun and the absence of other plants, more powerful, covered with foliage and creating a colossal shadow, are to blame. Such favorable light conditions contribute to a very intensive course of photosynthesis processes, which, in turn, greatly increase the likelihood of pollination of flowers. In addition, the soil is favorable for intensive plant growth - it is rich in moisture.

Since primroses are beautiful, they can be successfully used in landscaping. After all, the natural beauty of these plants is quite capable of giving a feeling of complete completeness to both landscape and flower compositions of any size, and forcing copies of these flowers will effectively decorate the space of any interior.

The species world of early flowering plants is wide and diverse, but this world, as well as the world of people, has its own stars, so let's take a closer look at these "celebrities":

An ordinary mother-and-stepmother is a well-known plant to everyone from childhood, which got its name from the peculiarity of the leaves, meaning the touch of a mother and stepmother to her or, respectively, someone else's child. Mother-and-stepmother grows in the most ordinary places - on clay slopes, cliffs, ravines, hills. It blooms with yellow flowers collected in a basket already in the second half of April, and if the weather is not too hot, then the flowers can be admired until mid-May. It is also interesting that the leaves of the mother-and-stepmother appear immediately after flowering.

These plants may well be used to form rabatki - capricious compositions, because even after flowering there will be no gaps or drying green mass, which in itself badly spoils the appearance of the rabatka. Mother-and-stepmother can also be used for decorating open spaces of alpine slides, planting a site between decorative trees and shrubs, as well as along the banks of artificial reservoirs. The only negative quality of coltsfoot is the ability to grow rather quickly, which can easily turn the plant into a weed in your area.

Anemone oakgrass - naturally grows in damp forests, on forest edges, in thickets of bushes and in parks. Depending on the temperature, it can bloom at the end of April, and if the spring is late, then in May - with regular white, with a slightly noticeable pink dusting below, flowers without pubescence. Its leaves are quite decorative, deeply tripartite, they are located on the stem with a whorl.

Haller's Corydalis - often this plant can be found in forests, and on soils rich in humus. The peak of its flowering occurs in late April - early May, this is the period when you can admire the light purple, slightly elongated and very delicate flowers, collected in racemose inflorescences. The plants themselves are quite graceful, have pleasant-looking double-triple petiole leaves and may well be used both for decorating shady alpine gardens, and simply for forming groups on the lawn. Plants feel best in partial shade on loose and well-fertilized moist soils.

Spring Chistyak - grows in forests and meadows, and in more open places it blooms already in mid-April, and where there is less sun, a couple of weeks later. This plant usually blooms for quite a long time (4-5 weeks) with regular, golden-yellow flowers surrounded by rounded-heart-shaped leaves. Spring Chistyak is good both in small groups and in solitary plantings, especially against the background of bushes. Due to the long flowering, the spring peel is often used as an element of a mixborder or rabatka.

Siberian scrub is very similar to a snowdrop, because it blooms with it at the same time with delicate bluish-blue flowers, surrounded by two pairs of bright green, almost flat leaves. It is widespread in forests and in open spaces, where it blooms much earlier. The scrub has been used in design for a long time, it looks especially beautiful against the background of a lawn and on an alpine slide, giving the impression of an accidentally grown plant. It may well be used for spring distillation - small bouquets on the windowsill against the background of a snow-covered landscape look just great.

The plant as a whole is unpretentious, but it shows all its beauty only on loose and humus-rich soils.

Yellow goose onions - most often found on the slopes and edges of forests, often grown in gardens and parks, has star-shaped flowers, collected on a peduncle of 1-7 pieces. They are painted yellow on the inside and yellowish-green on the outside. Looks gorgeous on lawns and as an element of an alpine slide.

Buttercup anemone - grows on the edges of forests, in gardens. The first flowers appear in April, and you can admire them almost until the end of May. As a rule, the flowers are single, regular in shape and yellow in color. The leaves are trifoliate, poisonous. Buttercup anemone looks great in groups and large arrays in the form of any shape on the lawn, near trees or just on the ground. It grows very quickly, occupying large areas.

Lungweed unclear - often found along the edges of forests, where it grows mainly on sandy soil. It usually blooms in late April - early May; pinkish, purple, and even blue flowers often bloom on the plant. The essence of this effect is that the color of the flowers changes depending on their "age".

The youngest flowers are pink, the older ones are purple, and those that are almost fading are blue. The leaves of this plant are also not simple - they differ in size. For example, summer ones are much larger than spring ones. Leaves move away from the underground rhizome, forming a curtain. The lungwort can well be used both for planting in the shade and in partial shade: both in groups and singly. The plants of lungwort look especially picturesque against the background of trees or shrubs.

Spring primrose - you can often find this plant in meadows, fields, on slopes of various steepness, as well as on the edges of humid forests. This plant blooms for quite a long time.

Blooming in April, its yellow flowers, collected in umbrella-shaped drooping inflorescences, delight the eye almost until mid-summer. Primrose plants grow especially well on drained soils in partial shade, very easily tolerate transplanting even in flowering state and are quite suitable for obtaining miniature bouquets, which are in special demand in spring.

Planting material for primroses can be purchased from specialized companies, botanical gardens, and also from amateur gardeners. Removing early flowering plants from their natural growth areas and collecting their aboveground parts for bouquets is unacceptable, since this disrupts the development cycle of primroses, which can lead to their death and the disappearance of these species from the flora of the region.

A large number of new specimens allows for seed reproduction. When growing primroses in culture, you should try, if possible, to create conditions close to natural for them, and then these plants every year will herald the arrival of spring with their early flowering.
