Probably, there is no other fish like crucian carp, to catching which our great expert in fishing L. P. Sabaneev was so disdainful of. Here is what he wrote: “Due to the lethargy of the bite and the low resistance of the caught crucian carp, angling this fish is not particularly interesting, and for river hunters it is even more boring than angling tench …, but only by the degree of difficulty in catching and the amount of resistance it offers."

And in fact, the caught carp is not a fighter and therefore obediently follows towards its gastronomic fate.

After reading these lines, a not too experienced fisherman can conclude that it is not difficult to get a simpleton, a crucian carp. In practice, the well-known proverb is very suitable for catching this fish: "You can't take the fish out of the pond without difficulty." The crucian carp more than compensates for the lack of fighting ability with endless inexplicable whims, which make catching it a very difficult task.

You can catch crucian carp with a float rod, zakidushku, jig, bottom fishing rod and, in some cases, with a spinning rod. The fishing rod rigging for the float rod should be light and sensitive. Fishing rod 4.5-5 m long, fishing line 0.15-0.3 mm in diameter, hooks No. 4-6, sinker - pellet. There are a great many similar tackles, so I will tell you in more detail about only some of them that have proven themselves well when fishing for crucian carp. One of the successful versions of such a fishing rod is shown in Figure 1. The "salt" of this tackle is a float. It consists of a body and a signaling rod. The body and the signaling rod are made of foam. Such a float is very sensitive and reacts to the slightest touch to the nozzle, immediately signaling a bite. This is especially important when fishing for crucian carp.

Crucians are also caught on bottom gear: on the bottom with a shock absorber - on the "rubber band" (see Fig. 2), on the back.

In my opinion, spinning fishing for crucian carp is quite interesting. But this method is used in special cases. For example, a fish does not bite from the shore, but walks about 20-30 meters, giving itself out in bursts. This is where spinning comes in handy. Place a float on the line (30-40 cm from the end), just below a light weight, then tie the hook. Plant a large worm (preferably red dung) and cast in the place where the crucian carp walk.

If everything is done correctly, then the bite will follow immediately. And the biting can last long enough, because the fall of the float on the water, the fuss of the crucian carp on the hook itself will not alert other fish, and they will be caught one by one.

Biting is probably the most relevant topic when fishing for crucian carp. This fish is very finicky: on the same reservoir on the same day, the angler has to use a wide variety of baits. Say, on Monday, crucian carp is perfectly caught on pellets of black bread, on Tuesday on the same pond - exclusively on red dung worm. On Wednesday, he wants to try rounds of semolina mixed with hemp cake, on Thursday, serve him steamed peas, or there will be no bite. On Friday, present a sandwich: maggot-bloodworm, caddisfly-burdock moth. And on Saturday it is a day off.

What can you say about the predilection of crucian carp for oil products? It so happens that a few drops of kerosene added to the nozzle can whet his appetite.

Not a single fish plagues the angler with its whims like the crucian. Therefore, going after crucian carp, it will not be superfluous to take with you the maximum supply of various baits. If the biting of fish is a mystery of nature, then the biting of the crucian carp is perhaps akin to the mystery of the Egyptian pyramids. Besides, the most important part for successful carp fishing is groundbait. Without it, you can only catch this fish by accident. And you need not just bait, but bait with special properties. It should be: firstly, nutritious (otherwise the fish will find a more suitable food for themselves); secondly, to be noticeable for the crucian carp (and at the same time not to alert him); thirdly, to attract the smell and taste, since he is a great gourmet.

The nozzle is usually thrown into “windows” between plants or near their edges. Depending on weather conditions, time of year and day, crucian carp can stay near the bottom, and in half water and at the very surface. Therefore, the amount of float release should be checked by trial fishing.

The bite of the crucian carp is quite diverse: sometimes it puts the float like a bream, sometimes it leads it along the surface without dipping it, sometimes it “crushes” it finely and then immerses it. By the time of the sweep, you must specially adapt.

If you are going to catch crucian carp, be patient, and most importantly, try different options for baits and baits. Experiment, and only then the coveted crucian will be your trophy.
