Fishing tales
It would seem that the weather is quite suitable for biting: a cloudy, dull, windless winter morning, moderate frost, and for some reason the fish was capricious and did not take it. And not only here, but also among the numerous fishing brethren gathered on the lake.
It was in vain that my partner Vadim and I, in search of fish, drilled more and more holes: now from the coast into the depths, now along the coast. Our trophies, at best, were the little finger smelt and equally small ruffs and perches. So, gradually moving on the ice, we got to a crack that snaked obliquely from the coast to a depth of fifty meters.
Naturally, the anglers avoided it (who wants to fail!). We also moved away. Vadim and I had time to "run over" thoroughly when not far from us a new fisherman who had just appeared - a guy in a khaki jacket and a cockerel hat settled down. It would seem nothing unusual - just another lover of winter fishing. But the fact is that the alien did not drill holes, but began to fish in the crack! Apparently, choosing a suitable place, he carefully examined the crack, and, finally, about thirty meters from the shore, lowered the tackle into it and froze. Further, we no longer paid attention to him. Until we heard his cry:
- Guys, look what a miracle Yudo I caught!
We looked around and saw that he was holding a fish on the hook. We hurried to him. And there was something to be surprised … Before us was a fish fifteen centimeters long, gray-green in color, reminiscent of a large tadpole with a long webbed tail. She wriggled in a serpentine manner, more and more tangling the line.
We, like most of the audience, did not know what kind of fish it was. Only an elderly angler who came up as one of the last confidently determined:
- It's an eelpout.
Gradually the anglers dispersed, and the guy in the khaki jacket was left alone again. He obviously did not bite, and he moved to another place, but again along the crack. And after a short time I caught the eelpout again. Then another one. For some time, his biting stopped, and when it resumed, a pretty decent smelt began to actively bite.
Of course, this did not go unnoticed by others. Despite the fact that the crack was a good fifty meters long and, it would seem, fish wherever you want, most of the anglers surrounded the lucky angler with a tight ring. While work was in full swing around him - at least a dozen holes were drilled, he caught another small eelpout. On this, everything stalled: an exceptionally small smelt pecked. And even then from time to time. The same situation was with other anglers.
In vain was the guy in the khaki jacket and his uninvited entourage checking literally every meter of the crack. In vain - everywhere the fish took badly. So it remained a mystery: why the eelpout pecked only in the crack. Is it a crack or an eelpout secret?
