Video: My Garden Is My Pharmacy
My garden is my pharmacy
When creating my garden, I wanted not only plants to grow in it for beauty and pleasure, but also those that would also bring benefit.
Then I dreamed of growing medicinal herbs to use for the whole family, so that they help strengthen and heal our bodies. I planted some plants consciously in the garden, while others grow there by themselves.
Someone considers them obsessive weeds, but I found a place for them in my garden. That's how I have preserved celandine, St. John's wort, chamomile, dimple, dandelion, coltsfoot, plantain, yarrow, nettle.
A rather large and steep slope begins immediately behind our site, where several trees of rowan, linden and birch grow. All wild plants are used by us. For example, in the spring, when there are not enough vitamins and I really want greens, I prepare a vitamin salad with the original name:
300 g of nettle leaves, 200 g of plantain leaves, 200 g of sorrel or dreamy leaves, 50 g of dandelion leaves (soak for 30 minutes in water), a bunch of green onions, 2 eggs, mayonnaise, sour cream or vegetable oil. Wash all components of the salad, scald the leaves. Chop greens, mix everything with chopped eggs, season, salt.
And here's another.
Pasta for sandwiches
Beat with a blender (mixer) 4 tbsp. tablespoons of scalded and chopped nettle, 1 teaspoon of dill herbs, 80 g of fat cottage cheese, 80 g of processed cheese. These vitamin dishes are eaten very quickly and with pleasure in spring.
From dandelion flowers I make "honey", which is not only tasty, but also very useful for diseases of the liver, pancreas, gout, rheumatism, vitamin deficiency. Its recipe is known to many, so I will not give it here.
Or you can grind dried dandelion roots in a coffee grinder, mix with thickened honey in a 1: 1 ratio, roll hazelnut-sized balls from this mixture and dry. They are useful for all diseases mentioned above, and also as an anti-sclerotic agent. It is also used by patients with cancer with low leukocyte counts.

I collect celandine with flowers and make juice from it (grind and squeeze), which I mix with vodka in a 1: 1 ratio; stored for a long time. I use celandine tincture if necessary.
It is used in the treatment of the liver and biliary tract, for rheumatism, hemorrhoids, for cancer, uterine fibroids, papillomas, colon polyposis (enemas on a decoction of herbs) for autoimmune thyroiditis in the form of an ointment, for warts and eczema.
Reception of celandine tincture: on an empty stomach 1 time a day (in the morning), it is possible the second time in the evening, but you need to monitor your health. You need to start with two drops of tincture in 50 ml of water, adding two drops every day. Bring up to 16-20 drops a day, then go in reverse order, subtracting two drops a day. Reach 10 drops and drink this for a month, then, subtracting 2 drops again, reduce the intake. Finish the treatment, take a break for three months, and then you can repeat everything. It should be remembered that celandine is a poisonous plant. When treating serious illnesses, you should consult your doctor.
Snyt, growing in the garden, complements well spring cabbage soup and borscht. I use young green tender leaves. In the fall, the fruits of the mountain ash ripen. They are a storehouse of vitamins, for example, they contain more vitamin C than lemons and oranges, and carotene in rowan berries is almost three times more than in carrots. They contain 3-4 times more iron than apples. I cook from them
Blanch berries, touched by frost (1 kg) in hot water with salt solution, then rinse and boil in two glasses of water. Squeeze the mass through cheesecloth. Add 100-200 g of sugar to the resulting juice and cook for a short time.
Transfer to jars and allow to harden. You don't need to cook juice with sugar, then you need more sugar. You can freeze juice with a small amount of sugar in containers of 200 g.
Mountain ash is used in the treatment of gastritis with low acidity, anemia, hypertension, constipation, kidney stones, chronic cough, liver and biliary tract diseases, gout, vitamin deficiency. The body is able to cope with many diseases on its own, as it has natural defenses. You just need to support him in time. And medicinal plants can become the most reliable helpers in this. The main thing is to know: how exactly a particular plant works, how to properly prepare an infusion or decoction at home.
Before collecting plants, you need to study their description of the features of development, find out the timing of collection and drying rules. Not only roses, clematis, phloxes and lilies decorate my garden, but also healing flowers and other plants: echinacea purpurea, thyme (thyme), lemon balm, mint, spring primrose lavender, calendula, common daisy, wormwood, sage, peony evading (marin root), monarda, meadow clover (in the form of green manure under fruit trees) and others.
My garden is my pharmacy. I very often use medicinal plants to treat various diseases - my own and my family members. Those herbs that I do not have or have nowhere to collect, I buy at the pharmacy. I have two small children, and they are very often allergic to pharmaceutical preparations. Most often, children catch colds, so a wonderful syrup for any cough and bronchitis has taken root in our family. It is very effective and has been tried many times. With a dry cough, the coughing process quickly sets in.
1) Chop 1 kg of onions, pour into a saucepan with 1250 ml of cold water, cook for one hour under a lid over very low heat (simmer).
2) add two cups of sugar and cook for about an hour.
3) add one tablespoon of oregano, St. John's wort, thyme, linden, chamomile, fireweed, as well as 2 tbsp. spoons of mother-and-stepmother, plantain; 1 teaspoon of elecampane, lavender.
If there is no herb, you can do it without it. I sometimes use calendula, pine buds, licorice, wild rosemary, violet, primrose.
After adding the herbs, mix the composition, then simmer for another 30 minutes, then leave for 45 minutes, strain. Store the syrup in the refrigerator. You need to take this folk remedy 4-6 times a day with warm (diluted with warm water) before meals: adults - 1/2 cup, children under 16 years old - 2 tbsp. spoons, children under 10 years old - 1 tbsp. spoon, babies up to 1 year old - 1 tsp. If the syrup is prepared for one child, you can prepare the composition from half the ingredients (i.e. take everything in half). For adults, you can prepare a cold balm.
Take 2 tbsp. spoons of echinacea, 1 tbsp. spoon of flowers of calendula, sage and tricolor violet. Pour this mixture into 0.5 liters of vodka, close with a stopper and put in a saucepan with hot water for one hour, change the boiling water every 20 minutes (you can use a hot bath, but on a very slow fire. In an hour the balm is ready. Take 2 tsp. 3-5 times a day (can be added to tea).
To increase immunity, I use herbs: tansy - antiviral properties, besides, it cleanses the liver well; St. John's wort is a strong antidepressant; rose hips - vitamins; mint - relieves spasms. Take all the herbs in equal amounts and collect. Brew 1 teaspoon of the collection in a glass of boiling water (the brew can be used several times). Drink half a glass three times a day before meals for 20 days.
Echinacea roots make a wonderful tincture. It is used to increase immunity for any colds, especially in the initial period of the disease. It helps better than any "anaferons". For children, you can use dried leaves and flowers of Echinacea purpurea. Use as part of fees or separately.
Dry cough in children is well treated with syrup from another plant.
Mix equally the plantain gruel (you first need to rinse well and dry the leaves on a towel) with sugar (if there is good honey, then it is even better with it). I have no good honey, and children are allergic to market honey. Insist the mixture for four hours in a saucepan with hot water, changing it periodically.
For honey, the water temperature is not higher than 60 ° C, but insist longer. Strain warm. Keep refrigerated. Children's dosage - 1 teaspoon four times a day. When treating a lingering rhinitis, sinusitis, I use herbal oil. I prepare the medicine in the summer from fresh plants.
I take an equal number of flowers of calendula, marigolds, mint, plantain, and quite a bit celandine. I chop it and put it in a jar, fill it with unrefined sunflower oil 2-3 cm higher than the grass and put it in a water bath for two hours (on a very slow fire). I close the jar with a lid. Then I leave it for three days at room temperature. Then I filter and store in the refrigerator. I use it on turundas in the nose or bury 2-3 drops. This remedy also heals wounds, abrasions, bedsores.
The liver and kidneys are very important organs, they are the filters of our body. To prevent clogging, they must be periodically cleaned. I prepare a drink to cleanse the blood, liver and kidneys as follows: I pour 1 glass of rose hips with 3 liters of water and cook over low heat for 5-7 minutes (after boiling). Then I turn off the fire, put 4 tbsp in the broth. tablespoons of celandine and 10 tbsp. tablespoons of sage, let it brew in a warm place for 10-12 hours (overnight). I filter through three layers of gauze so that the rose hips do not get into the broth. I take: 100 ml one hour before meals three times a day for 20 days every three months for two years.
You can also prepare a collection to cleanse the liver and kidneys. It is more complex in composition, it has many ingredients. But if you do not have any plant, then you can do without it. So, we take: 4 parts - birch leaf, 3 parts - celandine, 4 parts - horsetail, 2 parts - barberry, 4 parts - lingonberry leaf, 4 parts - immortelle, 2 parts - hop fruits, 2 parts - flax seeds (grind into coffee grinder), 4 parts - dandelion root (grind in a coffee grinder), 2 parts juniper fruits, 2 parts - lemon balm, 3 parts - calendula flowers.
Take 4 teaspoons of the collection per 1 liter of boiling water, boil for 5 minutes (and it is better to do it in a thermos), leave for 10 hours (overnight). Drink one glass warm four times a day 30 minutes before meals. You can add 2 drops of fir oil to the glass. When treating in this way, pain in the area of the liver, kidneys is possible - there is a cleansing. Take caution with stones in these organs.
In the summer, for the whole family, I harvest plants for tea, which I add to the tea leaves during the epidemic of acute respiratory infections, flu: jasmine flowers, echinacea, cherry leaf, linden blossom, apple leaves, currant leaves, rose petals.
Herbal treatment is very powerful, but it is imperative to study plants, to learn all their effects on the body, contraindications and side effects. It would be nice, of course, to consult with specialists who understand herbal medicine, especially in the presence of serious, serious diseases.
Herbs, alas, also have side effects and contraindications, however, they are much less than those of synthetic drugs. For example, you cannot take herbs for a long time that affect one organ. This can deplete him, worsen his work. It is necessary to affect all organs, therefore it is better to take the collection of medicinal plants.
For example, infusion of sandy immortelle is often used in order to dissolve bile and increase its separation. At first it happens, but long-term use leads to depletion of the liver and can cause more serious diseases. A "harmless tea drinking" thyme can exacerbate gastritis. Valerian is capable of exacerbating cholecystitis, etc.
But for the most part, plants are low-toxic, they rarely cause side effects and allergic reactions, they are easily absorbed and are not rejected by the body, rarely addictive. Therefore, they must and can be used in treatment, only this must be done reasonably, competently. Sometimes it is possible to replace synthetic drugs with herbs, gradually reducing their dosage and switching only to herbs, but in this case it is better to consult phytotherapists. I believe that gardeners need to plant more medicinal plants in their gardens and vegetable gardens. Everyone can learn to seek, collect and protect the gifts of Mother Nature.
I wish you all success!
