To catch up with Japan in vegetable consumption and life expectancy

The population of small Japan consumes thousands of varieties of about 120 botanical types of vegetable crops, the population of huge China - 60 species, and the population of huge Russia - 20 species. Meanwhile, it is here that the answer to the secret of interest to everyone lies: why the Japanese live the longest.

In our country, not only gardeners, but also agricultural specialists have not even heard of the existence of many cultures, which we will talk about today. That is why the firm "Poisk-Petersburg" announces the competition "The most advanced gardener". Vegetable growers of the North-West region of the Russian Federation can take part in it. The conditions of this competition: its participant presents to the jury members the packages he purchased with seeds of crops, which we will name below, but no more than three varieties of one crop. All participants who have purchased at least 50 packages are allowed. The winner, who presents the largest number of packages of seeds, will receive a prize from the Poisk-Petersburg firm - a unique set of Empakt fertilizers - for 10 crops.

At the same time, the second competition is announced - "The most advanced culinary specialist". It is attended by gardeners who will be able to present to the editorial board the largest number of recipes they have collected or invented and tested recipes for dishes from the same vegetable crops, but no more than five recipes per crop. The winner will receive a prize - a set of "Poisk" seeds - one package of each vegetable or green crop (according to the entire price list).

The results of the competition will be announced at the "Spring Flora - 2005" exhibition at the "Eurasia" Center in early March. Firm "Poisk-Petersburg", in turn, undertakes to prepare a series of publications containing descriptions of these vegetable and green crops, their varieties, agricultural techniques and original recipes from them in the "Rare cultures" section.
