The North-West region is a zone of risky farming, where it is necessary to plant only proven varieties of those crops that are grown in specialized nurseries in our region.

One of such nurseries is the Pushkin Fruit and Berry Nursery of the Scientific and Production Center Agrotechnology. The best varieties of fruit and berry and ornamental crops obtained by well-known breeders of the North-West and Central regions of Russia are collected and multiplied here.

In the nursery, the mother plantations of strawberries are laid - the best zoned and promising varieties of the author of this article - Divnaya, Tsarskoselskaya, Krasavitsa, Sudarushka, Onega, Favorit, Lakomka, Original and a number of new, proven varieties of domestic and foreign selection - Surprise Olympiada, Carmen, Crown, Junia Smides, Borovitskaya, Zenga Zengana, Regiment.

Since 2003, a raspberry mother plant has been operating here, where the best varieties of the famous Russian breeder, academician of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences I. V. Kazakov. In 2004, he handed over to the nursery for reproduction five new varieties of remontant raspberries that he created, bearing fruit in late summer and autumn on annual shoots: Augustina, Apricot, Hercules, Nadezhnaya, Elegant. In 2008, the nursery received also remontant varieties of Babe Leto-2, Bryanskoe Divo, Zolotye Kupola, Orange Miracle, Brilliantovaya.

A mother plant of honeysuckle is also laid in the nursery, which includes the best varieties of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor M. N., known and already appreciated by gardeners. Plekhanova - Nymph, Amphora, Violet, Omega, Morena, Viola and varieties obtained by M. N. Plekhanova together with L. N. Khairova - Vlada, Lenarola, Koketka, Renata, Laura, Vlada, Masha.

In 2008, a gooseberry mother plant was organized, including the best zoned and promising varieties - White nights, Baltic, Leningradets, Krasnoslavyansky, Russian, Russian yellow, Komandor, Orlyonok, Kamenyar, Olavi, Prune, Kolobok, Neslukhovsky, Malachite, Masheka, Seed Lefora, Hinnonmati striin.
