From this marvelous picture and light invigorating coolness, the remnants of sleep washes away immediately and without a trace. Hurry to the lake! There is no better place for fishing than the lakes of central Russia. Mirror surface of water, stirring soul swaying of the coastal grass from the fish passing in the depths. The soul sings and rejoices.

Our lake belongs to the Seliger system. It is small - 4-5 square kilometers. But it has several pits, 10 to 20 m deep. The variety of fish in it is surprising: roach, bleak, bream, crucian carp, tench, rudd, ide, perch, pike, burbot, ruff and even eel. There used to be a lot of crayfish. But ten years ago, either from the fertilizers that got into the water, or from the plague that happened in those places during those years, the crayfish disappeared. But, nevertheless, there is fish in the lake, and it must be caught.

What is fun about fishing? Of course, this is excitement, in addition - the unknown and unexpectedness of meeting with someone who lives under water. After all, you don't always know, especially on such a lake inhabited by fish, who you will fall for the bait in a minute or two: maybe the roach will take the bait, or maybe the bream will be worthy to swim to your bait. Well, there is, of course, joy, excitement from the fact that he was able to deceive and outwit the careful fish. It is worth adding more and material considerations - you can eat fish. In addition, caught in clean and fresh water, it can be very tasty if prepared by a specialist in his field.

Once our chief fisherman Olga sits on a raft and catches roach. The place is lured. The fish still walks in the water, sometimes sparkling with gold at depth. Sometimes she will hide herself on a worm that is attached to a hook. The caught roach is sent to the cage, where the number of fish caught is increasing and increasing. And suddenly…

Everything, the bite is gone. Although the morning is early, the fog over the lake has not cleared. What happened? And like every more or less experienced fisherman, showing ingenuity and natural ingenuity, our Olga guessed that some predatory fish approached the fishing spot. Most likely a pike. It's a long way to run for a spinning rod, but you want to catch a pike. And then she finds a way out: she takes a small roach from the cage, hooks it on an ordinary hook and launches it into the lake. And not a minute passed - a pull, and then a bite. And here is the puppy in the hands. Its toothy mouth did not even have time to bite the line.

Since then, our quick-witted squinting lover has acted like this constantly, and every morning we had 1-2 pups weighing up to 400 grams.

But if our fisherwoman calmed down on this! One morning he runs into the house, grabs the landing nets and, without saying a word, runs away to the lake. In perplexity, we quietly went down to the raft and saw a strange picture: our most reckless fisherman Olga, kneeling on the bridge, is actively working with a net right under the raft. It freezes, then slowly leads him somewhere, then makes a sharp jerk, then you hear a displeased grunt - and everything repeats again. It turns out that a pike crept up to the cage, where the first lonely roach was sitting. The little roach twitched, trying to run away, but the net prevented her. The pike came in from one side - there was no way to take it, then from the other - it was also impossible to get close. Our fisherwoman invited her to enter through the open valve of the cage, but for some reason the pike did not want to enter the cage. Then it was the turn of the landing net. Bringing it down from below, slowly and carefully,Olga tried to pry the stubborn from below. Failed. The pike tactfully retreated from this place. The landing net is wound from the side of the tail - and again the predator did not like something. Then the fisherman applied frontal tactics. If you want from below or from behind - let's try from above. Fortunately - shallow: the depth is up to half a meter. And then nothing happened. But the pike does not go away, apparently the appetite is playing out, the roach beckons. And Olga's desire to catch also does not disappear.

What to do? And she, lowering the landing net to the ground, began to wait. The vigilance of the pike was put to sleep, and she decided with great heat to pull the defenseless roach out of the cage. It was at this moment that Olga's excerpt worked. A sharp movement of the landing net - both the pike and the net were in a net bag.
