Fishing tales

My "fishing experience" began with barefoot childhood. Looking back and remembering trips to rivers and lakes, I smile, because various funny incidents and stories that occur on almost every fishing trip come to mind.

Everyone understands how the angler values his catch. After all, this is a reason to show yourself as a skillful earner. And yet, in different periods of life, who just did not drag my catches for their own needs. In childhood, these were cats who, meowing, were waiting for fishermen at the Volga quays. Boats approached there, and the fishermen, after a successful catch, often threw a couple of tails to the cats waiting for them. And you, forgetting about the neighborhood with the purring brethren, will leave a kukan or a cage with fish on the shore, and returning to the boat, you will then find some bones from the catch. Don't be a muddler.

In the sixties of the last century, I traveled for a long time to the Gruzinka river flowing near the Vaskelovo platform. Driftwood, submerged tree stumps and former trenches proved attractive to pikes. Many of them then lived there. Once, while fishing, I was scared by the splash of something that fell. As if something very large had fallen into the water. I looked around. Snorting, the unknown animal swam away from me. And only then I realized that it was a rat. The plump water rat got scared of me and rushed to the side. And in the morning from my cage with three pikes by the tent there were only ropes and a trace of rat paws on the shore.

On the ice, gaping, I was left without several kilograms of perch and burbot: the fish were instantly seized by seagulls. And in the summer, leaving the (already new) cage on a huge stone, I carried the boat to the pine trees, wanting to quickly pack, hurrying to the bus. Packed up! But he returned home that day without a catch. With what indescribable greed the crows pounced on my fish. It was only necessary to see it - a wild feast of cunning birds at the expense of the fisherman. This is exactly how I looked, without moving from a place. I no longer believe that a crow is dropping a piece of cheese at Krylov's. In the seventies, at one of the forts near Kronstadt, I was attacked by rats at night. Yes, the most common rats that bred in a great number of rats. I just forgot about the evening catch. It was just right to climb into the boat and set sail to a safe distance. I'm even glad I got off with one catch.

And this summer I again discovered that I was robbed, completely robbed, however, I discovered the thief quickly. Passing through the bushes to the upturned pine tree, I came across a red-headed villainess-fox. With my crucian carp in her mouth, she turned around, but for some reason did not run. So we stood, looking at each other, then, not letting the fish out of its mouth, it dived under the twisted roots. Let them eat, I decided, smiling, probably the foxes will get it too, and walked towards the boat.
