Fishing Academy
… End of March, beginning of April. The time when winter fishing ends soon, and summer fishing is still ahead. The ambient temperature is often above 10 degrees Celsius. So sit on the box, keep an eye on your fishing rod and enjoy the warmth of spring. Streams of melt water rush down the ice with a murmur. At this time, most fish begin to feed more and more actively. Now the places of their former camps cannot be determined: in search of food, the fish moves throughout the reservoir, and after it the fishermen.
Few of them will sit still: even on the most beloved and previously catchy holes. Someone is looking for fishing happiness near the coast under the crowns of trees hanging over the water, someone, on the contrary, despite the noticeably thinning ice, strives further, to the depth. Gradually, under the ever increasing pressure of the spring waters, the ice cover in the water bodies emerges. Anglers call it dry or last ice. Fishing on the last ice is very often quite prey. From one and the same hole on a jig, you can catch a large rudd, bastard or roach. Not to mention the perches and ruffs. The main thing now is to guess with the tackle and attachments. Quite often at this time the pike grabs any bait: wobbler, spoon, twister, popper, vibrotail, live bait on a hook and jig. The greed and promiscuity of the predator is explained by the fact that it has a pre-spawning gorge,so he tries to feed himself as much as possible.
On the last ice, a particularly successful fisherman sometimes manages to find asps scouring the pond. However, for this you often have to try very hard: that is, drill hole by hole.
The Last Ice is a significant time when the entire aquatic and underwater community comes to life after the winter torpor. New environmental conditions also require a new approach to fishing. Therefore, it is imperative to take into account the habits of the fish at this particular time. For example, perch and pike-perch are more likely to grab energetically moving bait. Rudd or roach are unlikely to chase fast bait.
The features of the particular reservoir in which you have to fish are also important. After all, they are never the same. In one, perch and ruff dominate, in the other - roach and rudd. The underwater world is different in them: plants and insects. Therefore, sometimes it is very important that the movement of the bait resembles the movement of that bug, worm or crustacean, which is one of the main types of fish food in this reservoir.
How to find the required speed and frequency of the bait? Of course, only by experience. First, it must be given any speed and frequency of vibration. If this option works, then the calculation turned out to be correct. But this happens when you are very lucky. But more often than not, this does not work, and therefore you have to alternately try different wiring speeds. Until the bites begin. If it is clear that the fish cannot "please" in any way, then it is necessary to change the bait or the place of fishing.
Particularly difficult on the last ice is the selection of techniques for playing the jig. There are a great many of them, as a rule, each angler has his own. But first, you should get by with a few of the most commonly used ones.
If all the techniques are used, for example, fishing from the bottom, then they play with a jig in half water or at the bottom surface of the ice. You just need to take into account that in this case, bites do not happen immediately: the fish need time to find the bait in the turbid spring water.
Some fishermen believe: if the biting of the fish is very much revived, then for greater catchability it is necessary to attach two, or even three jigs to the line. Occasionally this technique brings good luck. However, long-term practice shows that this is not the case, because when fishing on several jigs, there are many fish descents and line breaks, when, when playing prey, the upper jig hooks onto the lower edge of the hole. In addition, two or three jigs on the line play worse than one.
The last ice rarely goes without adventures and unpleasant surprises. The situation can change radically within a day. Yesterday you fished well in the place you liked, and today you start fishing in the same holes, but there are no bites and no bites. The fish does not take any baits. What is the reason for this behavior of the fish is a mystery! Either the turbid water is to blame, or the current has changed.
However, the most dangerous and extremely unpleasant thing that the last ice conceals is its fragility, which means unreliability. Remember that getting out on the ice alone is a double risk. And even more dangerous is the situation when a crowd of anglers gathers around a successful fisherman, who strenuously "sieve" the surrounding ice, forgetting about the danger. In crowded places, the ice begins to settle imperceptibly, the water gradually floods it from above, and fishermen who are keen on active biting do not notice anything. Because of such carelessness, ice breaks and falls of people under the ice occur.
Therefore, going on such a risky fishing on the last ice, take at least minimal safety measures: take with you a light strong rope or a thick cord 15 meters long. If there is no pest, take with you a one and a half meter wooden stick. It is useful for checking the strength of the ice, finding cracks and gullies. And, of course, you just need to have a mobile phone. At a critical moment, he can play a crucial role in rescuing fishermen in trouble.

The Last Ice Is The Most Dangerous
April is traditionally ( and probably quite rightly ) is considered by anglers to be the last ice month. However, for some reason, the phrase "the last ice" is understood literally, that is, under the influence of the spring heat, the ice gradually becomes thinner, breaks, crumbles and, in the end, melts or is carried away by the current
