The layout of our slide and the flower garden around it (like a mixborder) "historically" has developed in such a way that it consists, as it were, of three parts, rather isolated from each other. The first part, adjacent to an artificial reservoir, for the construction of which plastic film was used for several years in a row, was left unchanged by us this summer. But next year we decided to replace the film, which means a short-lived reservoir with a stationary one.
Therefore, based on the shape and volume of the future new reservoir, we plan to remake the hill itself, or rather, that small part of it, which will be located next to the new reservoir. First I had to change the appearance of the pine tree. I had to remove some of the new quickly growing shoots, I bent some young branches with the help of wire and twine, giving the tree a rather bizarre shape. The edges of the second small reservoir, made from an old bath, were covered with wooden flooring, treated with a special compound and giving a beautiful color to the wood, lined with stones, and several flowerpots with begonias were placed on the sides.
In the middle of the pond, I put a "floating" flower box. During the summer, we changed several types of flowers in it, until we settled on petunia, which, in our opinion, is most suitable for decorating this section of the hill and reservoir. For several years now we have been growing nasturtium in long flower boxes on portable trellises, which we love not only for its bright color and "curly" character, but also for the abundance of seeds we use to make "capers".
We believe that the use of portable flower boxes, vases, flowerpots, as well as various portable trellis walls and flower nets for the decoration of the site allows you to quickly create a variety of flower arrangements and also quickly change them, leaving what you like most. Of course, you need to have a sense of proportion, relying not only on your artistic taste, but also on the recommendations of experts, which, by the way, can always be found in the "Flora Price" magazine. Perhaps from the point of view of design art, something was done by us and was wrong, but we tried very hard, and this allowed us to create a section of the garden that we began to like even more than in previous years.
In addition, our work on redesigning a part of the slide received the approval and recognition of our neighbors and our guests, which, frankly, is also important in the activities of gardeners. It is especially pleasant when guests are photographed against the background of your slide or flower garden. Although the work took us quite a lot of time, which we really do not regret - we managed to do what we had planned at the beginning of the summer. By the end of the vacation, we were already able to admire the new design of our slide. The only pity is that, despite all our efforts, most of the flowers will soon tell us: "Goodbye! Until next summer."
