All parts of verbena officinalis contain iridoids (verbenolin, aucubin, hastatoside), steroids (sitosterol), triterpenoids (lupeol, ursolic acid), flavonoids (artemetin), essential oil, vitamins, and trace elements.

Medicinal verbena preparations are taken in the form of decoctions, infusions, alcoholic tinctures, teas, herbal preparations, lotions and ointments, lotions, compresses and baths. Similar medicinal properties have
spear verbena and
lemon verbena.

Verbena tea: 2 tsp Pour 200 ml of boiling water over the herbs of the plant, insist for 5 minutes, strain. Drink for fever caused by a cold or flu, for headaches and migraines, as well as for certain diseases of the intestines and stomach. It is also recommended to take it as a general tonic, for insomnia, some female diseases, and increases lactation.
Infusion. 1st option. For external use: 3 tbsp. l. Pour the crushed raw materials into a thermos, brew 0.5 liters of boiling water, leave for 3 hours, strain. Use warm.
2nd option: 1 tbsp. l. dry herb verbena pour 250 ml of boiling water, leave for 2 hours, drain. Take 100 ml 2-3 times a day with physical fatigue, exhaustion, lethargy.
3rd option: 2 tsp. Pour herbs with 1 cup boiling water, leave for 1 hour, drain. Take 1 tablespoon every hour for atherosclerosis, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis, clogged veins, vein swelling.
4th option: 1 tbsp. Pour the herbs of the plant with 1 glass of boiling water, leave for 20 minutes, then strain. This infusion can be used to gargle with sore throat and stomatitis, and as a lotion - for ulcers, wounds, psoriasis, eczema and various rashes.
Broth.1st option. 1 tbsp Pour crushed raw materials with 1 glass of boiling water, heat for 30 minutes in a water bath, leave for 10 minutes, cool and strain. Drink 50 ml three times a day before meals for pneumonia, bronchitis and other colds. Also taken as a diaphoretic. To enhance the diaphoretic effect, take the infusion warm with honey.
2nd option: 1 tbsp. Pour herbs with 1 cup boiling water, heat in a water bath for 30 minutes, leave for 10 minutes, drain. Take 50 ml three times a day before meals for bronchitis, pneumonia, colds, laryngitis, tracheitis, fever, acne.
Tincture.50 g of verbena pour 0.5 l of vodka. Insist for two weeks in the dark, take 25-30 drops with water twice a day 15 minutes before meals or 1.5 hours after. The course of treatment is three weeks. Take ten day breaks. Use for cleaning blood vessels. An alcohol solution (1%) is used for some forms of conjunctivitis.
Compresses. 4 tbsp. l. Pour herbs into a gauze bag, put them in boiling water for 30 seconds, cool to an acceptable temperature. Apply to sore spots 1-2 times a day for 40-60 minutes. Apply for rheumatism, thrombophlebitis, lymph node tumors, trophic ulcers, long non-healing wounds, fistulas, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, scrofula, furunculosis, scabies.
Verbena oilprescribed for exhaustion and loss of strength, anemia, meager and short menstruation, inflammation of the liver.
Contraindications. Verbena preparations are categorically contraindicated in pregnancy, this herb causes the muscle tone of the uterus, which can lead to termination of pregnancy or premature birth. Verbena preparations are contraindicated in people with high blood pressure.
