Video: How To Create A Green Rosehip Fence

I want to tell you about my experience of using rose hips in landscape design - as a fence for enclosing one of the sides of a garden plot.
Having received the plot and lived at the dacha for several years, we realized that its western side, facing the alley and fenced with a fence made of the "chain-link" mesh, does not fulfill its protective functions. The fact is that from the northern side the site is in contact with the forest, the eastern and southern sides border on neighbors.
But from the west and the netting "netting", and even the sea buckthorn, planted along it, are not an obstacle to the east and west winds. In the spring, they dry up the blooming currant bushes and especially raspberries quite strongly. And since on the site we do not walk in our best clothes, and in the summer we generally try to sunbathe at the same time, the prying eyes of people walking along the lane also created discomfort.

Since a solid fence made of boards would clearly not be in harmony with the surrounding nature, and an ordinary picket fence would not solve all of the above problems, the question of creating a hedge immediately arose.
At first, they wanted to use the already existing netting net, letting curly annuals along it: morning glory, kobei, bindweed, sweet peas, beans with peas, but realized that we would create new problems for ourselves. Firstly, every year the strip along the fence would have to be cleaned of sod, watered, fed, and this meant a diversion of time and energy from the more important elements of the garden. Secondly, such a fence would not protect from the winds, and all spring it would have consisted of last year's gray remnants (it is almost impossible to remove the intertwined stems from the netting).

After going through other possibilities, we settled on such a well-known plant as the dog rose. It grows quickly, densely, it can be cut, it is practically not susceptible to diseases and pests (however, late harvesting fruits can contain worms), planting material grows free of charge along roads and on abandoned farms throughout the region.
In addition, it gives healing fruits. In general, it is both beneficial and useful. Therefore, I removed the netting "netting", dug up the ground and planted a dog rose every meter. The next year, he amicably climbed into the garden. I had to protect myself from it - I dug in pieces of slate along the entire length. The result was protection not only from rose hips, but also from wheatgrass, dullness and other uninvited guests.
Three years have passed. Now on the west side there is a solid wall, even in very early spring it is a wonderful barrier from the wind and unnecessary glance. And there are enough healing berries not only for our family, but also for all our neighbors. A new ritual has even appeared in the house - in the morning we brew dry rose hips in a thermos (regardless of the season), and at 16 o'clock each family member must drink a glass of this broth with a spoonful of honey (sweet tooth is not forbidden with two or three). They say very, very useful!
After watching TV programs about the English haircut of fences, I wanted to experiment with my own rosehip fence. But then they decided to leave it in its natural form - by design it is nevertheless closer to the old Russian estates, neglected gardens, our farms … "There is a Russian spirit here, here it smells of Russia!"

Lupine. Using Lupine As A Green Manure

Knowing the state of affairs in summer cottages and garden plots, it can be argued that in recent years, due to the shortage and high cost of manure, quite a few of their owners have begun to show interest in green manure plants. Scientists have found that the best green manure is annual lupine. By itself, any lupine as a legume enriches the soil with nitrogen and improves its structure
