Strawberry

The generally recognized queen among summer berries is the strawberry. Its advantages are innumerable: it is unusually beautiful, tasty, and useful in addition. Therefore, strawberries are widely used in medicine and cosmetology.

Delicious and unusually spectacular strawberries are not only a delicious delicacy, but also a very healthy food product. Of course, the most valuable from the medicinal point of view of the strawberry is the wild strawberry, but the garden strawberry is not far behind. Strawberries contain a lot of valuable substances. Berries are rich in sugars, organic acids, pectins and vitamins (C, B1, B9, B12, carotene). It also contains salts of iron, phosphorus, calcium and manganese.

Naturally, strawberries, like many other plants, have found application in herbal medicine. Its fruits are recommended to be used for cholelithiasis and as a diuretic, strawberry tea is used for colds. Infusions and decoctions of leaves are used in the form of lotions to treat wounds and abrasions, as well as acne. It is also used for gastritis and stomach ulcers, for diseases of the liver, kidneys, gout and high blood pressure.

Vitamin C and iron form a very successful combination, since ascorbic acid promotes the absorption of iron in the intestines - which is why strawberries are useful for anemia. A considerable amount of pectins reduces cholesterol levels, and therefore strawberries are very useful for the prevention of atherosclerosis. The antioxidants present in it protect cell membranes from free radicals (toxic waste of our metabolism). Strawberries contain a complex of biologically active components that stimulate metabolic processes in the body, increase resistance to adverse environmental influences. It increases appetite, regulates digestion, has the ability to dissolve and remove liver and kidney stones.

Of course, fresh berries are most useful. Products of its processing are already losing their useful qualities to a large extent. At the same time, the season of fresh strawberries is short-lived, and therefore it is advisable to extend it. Someone for this purpose plants varieties of different ripening periods, and someone freezes strawberries, and then uses a delicious strawberry delicacy during the long winter. It is not difficult to make such a delicacy - just crank the berries through a meat grinder, add 400 g of sugar per kilogram of berries, put them in containers (I use half-liter bottles of mineral water) and send them to the freezer. And in winter you take a bottle from the freezer, open it, and the strawberries seem to be fresh - the same taste, but almost the same aroma, in a word - delicious. Try it - you won't regret it!
