When in early spring the sun begins to warm the earth, and before our eyes it transforms, a gloomy and gloomy garden blooms recently, the gardener or summer resident, yearning after a long colorless winter, gladly meets even the most inconspicuous flowers, and even the appearance of more "noble" like a miracle.

Tulips, daffodils, pansies, hyacinths are always desirable in the first season in the flower garden. What a spring flower garden can do without bright colors! After the dull monotony of winter, a variety of colors of such familiar and beloved tulips will become its irreplaceable decoration. The color of their colors is very diverse: from white to dark purple and almost black, with all kinds of shades.

There are no only blue and blue tulips. In many varieties, the middle of the flower is especially beautiful - more often in the form of a black or yellow hexagon, star, triangle or circle. The size of flowers in height is from 3 to 10 cm, in diameter 5-7 cm.

And what a variety of forms! In horticulture, simple and double tulip varieties are used. Simple flowers are round, cupped, goblet, oblong-oval, lily and parrot. In a flower garden, tulips with a simple shape are best used in natural compositions - under trees, among the lawn. But tulips with an exquisite flower shape look spectacular near the paths.

Tulips are a perennial crop, they can be grown in one place for two to three years or more, but every year the bulbs and flowers become smaller. Therefore, it is recommended to dig them out at least in a year for the summer.

In terms of the variety of colors, tulips are in no way inferior, and in the richness of combinations they even surpass other early flowering plants - pansies or tricolor violet. The variety of their colors and color combinations is simply incredible: from pure white to almost black with all sorts of shades of yellow, blue, red.

There are varieties with purple, red, blue, bronze, pink, black, yellow, white, lavender, orange, apricot, burgundy, purple flowers. Moreover, the flowers are monochromatic, variegated, with an eye, two- and three-colored. Once a small and inconspicuous plant of meadows and fields - pansies - over the centuries of selection and hybridization, has acquired the widest range of colors among annuals. Modern varietal tricolor violet is distinguished by very abundant flowering.

Her varieties can become favorites in any flower garden: The Heavenly Queen - the color of the flower when blooming is almost pure blue, but fades in the sun and acquires a light lilac-blue tint. The flower reaches 4.5-5 cm in diameter. The height of the bush is 20 cm. The variety Triumph of Marta is also very attractive with a dark purple, and when fully blooming, an almost black flower with velvety petals.

Charming pansies are quite unpretentious to grow, but as biennial plants they require annual sowing. To obtain abundant flowering already in early spring, pansies are sown on seedlings in the summer of the previous year.

Although recently, the method of growing pansies as annuals has become increasingly popular, according to which violet seeds are sown for seedlings in February. But it is believed (and the famous Russian gardener P. N. Steinberg wrote about this back in the 19th century) that pansy plants that bloom in the first year after sowing will never, despite any fertilizers and care, give especially large flowers.

Spring is not only a riot of colors, but also gentle transitions, overflows, semitones. Therefore, a spring flower garden cannot do without touching forget-me-nots, poetic daffodils and exquisite hyacinths - they will bring a subtle romantic stream and the charm of awakening nature to any spring garden.

At the end of May, in shady places under the canopy of trees, you can admire the overgrown blue carpet of forget-me-nots. The unpretentious Alpine garden forget-me-not looks good both in the forest zone and in any garden flower garden, and it is especially irreplaceable in flower beds, where the assortment is replaced during the season.

Forget-me-not looks good in curbs, it is also used for planting in rockeries. The blue color of forget-me-nots can be shaded with deep blue, yellow or pink hyacinths, combined in compositions with tulips that do not have a blue tone in the palette.

It is good if a piece of a real forest has survived on your site - decorative strawberries will perfectly fit into the forest zone, and in May it will delight you with soft pink or bright pink flowers, with a golden yellow middle. Moreover, its remontant varieties will bloom and bear fruit until the very autumn frosts. However, decorative strawberries grow well not only in a shady forest area, but also in a sunny place, so it can be safely planted in borders, mixborders, singly and in mixed flower beds.

Daffodils do not amaze the imagination with the brightness and variety of colors, but they fully embody all that spring tenderness that is so lacking in winter.

Although their external fragility is only apparent - this adorable flower is able to stubbornly germinate even under the snow and endure light frosts. Depending on your imagination, the white patterned waves of daffodils on the flowerbed can be folded into some kind of drawing, an intricate ornament, or decorate the lawn in front of the windows of a country house in a picturesque mess. Daffodils, especially snow-white ones, will emphasize the richness of rich tones of tulips and create a wonderful decorative effect with almost any plants blooming in spring: forget-me-nots, primroses, hyacinths.

They are very attractive and appropriate everywhere: under a tree, on the banks of a river or reservoir, among stones in a rock garden or on a lawn. Growing daffodils is best in open and slightly shaded areas. In large shade, they give small flowers on thin, elongated peduncles and bloom 5-6 days later. In areas strongly lit and blown by the wind, on the contrary, they bloom earlier, but quickly fade and shed their leaves. Daffodils grow in any cultivated soil, except in low places where there may be stagnant water.

We should not forget that with the arrival of summer, the greenery of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths will fade, leaving bare unsightly places in the garden or in the flower garden. For this reason, it is necessary to prematurely think over the immediate vicinity of the bulbous: they, for example, can be combined with lushly growing perennials, the foliage and stems of which grow just in time for the bulbous flowering.
