The plant itself is rhizomatous, perennial, in various species the height of plants ranges from 30 cm to 100 cm. The leaves of the dicenter are interesting - they are openwork, pinnately dissected, of a very delicate green color. Thanks to them, the plant can be classified as decorative. Dicentra is a rather fastidious plant, grows well and pleases the eye with magnificent flowering only on moist, nutritious, humus-rich and drained soils. It does not tolerate the dicenter and stagnation of water, so it should be planted at higher places on your site.

However, the lack of moisture also negatively affects the plant, therefore, it must be watered during dry periods. As for the place of growth, it may well grow in sunny places and in the shade, however, the lack of sun delays the beginning of flowering, but significantly prolongs it. The dicenter is planted, wearing gloves, in pre-prepared planting pits with a depth of at least 45 cm with drainage at the bottom. Fall asleep with humus mixed with loose soil and slightly compacted.

Plant care begins in early spring. As soon as the first tender leaves appear from the ground, the soil around the plant is carefully loosened and mulched. This time is especially dangerous due to the possibility of recurrent cold weather. If the temperature starts to drop, the bushes need to be covered with some kind of non-woven material, there is a lot of it on sale now.

At the end of summer, after the end of flowering, in order to stimulate the plant to lay new flower buds for the next season, it is watered with a solution of organic matter or nitrogen-containing fertilizers.

In the fall, it is imperative to remove the entire aerial part of the plant and leave only hemp a centimeter high. If the forecasts for the winter period are disappointing, then you need to take care of the shelter of plants. Here you can use the same covering material that was used in the spring to protect against recurrent cold weather.

A few words should be said about the reproduction of dicentra, although, probably, and so many growers know that the most effective method here is the division of rhizomes. It is carried out in the middle of summer, because it is during this period that the plant prepares for rest. The strips are cut so that each has at least four buds. Division is not only a useful process, but also necessary, because aging roots most often die off and rot.

Slightly less often, cuttings are used for propagation of dicenter. Cuttings, which are best cut with sharp pruning shears, root perfectly in a greenhouse slightly shaded from the sun.

As for seed reproduction, it is possible only in warm climates and is often used only in breeding work.
