Promising varieties

Promising varieties include new varieties that surpass the zoned assortment in any one or a complex of economically valuable traits that are in the State test or are already included in the State Register in other regions.

For the North-West region of the Russian Federation, we can safely recommend in the group of promising for home and amateur gardening varieties obtained at the Kokinsky support point of VSTISiP (Bryansk), already well-known large-fruited, with a mass of berries from 3.2 to 4.5 g, highly productive - from 2.5 to 3.5 kg per bush, distinguished by a good dessert taste and aroma, fairly winter-hardy early varieties: Cascade Bryansk, Solnyshko, medium ripening: Gusar, Volnitsa and late Brigantine variety.

Particularly noteworthy is the early ripening variety Beglyanka, which has golden-apricot berries of excellent taste with a delicate aroma.

These varieties have been studied and multiplied since 2004 in the Pushkin fruit and berry nursery "NPTs Agrotechnology".

Many gardeners are interested in high-quality large-fruited varieties with a berry mass of 4-8 g, obtained in VSTISiP (All-Russian Institute of Selection and Technology for Horticulture and Nursery, Moscow): Aboriginal, Maroseyka, Stolichnaya, Taganka. The successful cultivation of these valuable, albeit insufficiently winter-hardy varieties in the conditions of amateur gardening is quite feasible provided they are bent down for the winter and the plants are covered with snow or other warming material.

One of the promising varieties for amateur gardening is the variety of the Leningrad Fruit and Vegetable Experimental Station - Vega - early maturing, large-fruited, with a dessert flavor of berries, which is also propagated in the Pushkin nursery.

Thus, the list for choosing raspberry varieties is very extensive and varied, and each gardener can purchase and grow the desired varieties on his personal plot.

In the Pushkin nursery for the propagation of new varieties I. V. Kazakov laid the mother plant in the spring of 2005, in the fall of 2006 it will already be possible to purchase seedlings of the desired varieties.
