During the celebration of the Day of Russia, the central part of St. Petersburg turned into a bright flower kingdom for two days. The austere, restrained architectural ensemble of the center of St. Petersburg, suddenly dressed in bright colors and blossomed with all the colors of the rainbow - for the second time the International Flower Festival was held in our city.

The main kind magicians who presented the city with this holiday were the master florists from the studio of Vladimir and Alexander Bermyakov "Tsubaki", specialists from Russia and honored guests from Holland, the Baltic countries and other European countries. The "flower" theme harmoniously intertwined with the official program of the holiday dedicated to the Day of Russia: in parallel with the parade of brass bands, carriages and platforms, old cars decorated with magnificent flower arrangements marched along Nevsky Prospekt.

The holiday program was unusually dynamic and eventful. The flower show unfolded at several sites in the city at once - in the Alexander Garden, on Nevsky Prospect, on Palace Square …

The festive morning of June 12 began with various contests and shows for florists; then the action took place on a stage installed in the Alexander Garden near the Admiralty: in a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere, the masters whose names are known to the whole world made bouquets in front of the audience and presented them to St. Petersburg women. Each bouquet had not only decorative functions, but also carried a certain, original meaning, for example, a composition with a soccer ball "Zenith" is a champion "," A bouquet for the most beautiful grandmother ", etc.) Girls-models demonstrated original dresses made of flowers. In addition to all this show was accompanied by magnificent live music: a concert of saxophonists and a jazz ensemble took place on the site of the Alexander Garden, a performance by orchestras,evening concert of the "Pesnyary" group.

The carnival flower procession that took place along Nevsky Prospect ended its journey on Palace Square with a solemn ceremony of presenting a bouquet to the main pearl of St. Petersburg - the State Hermitage. But the participants of the carnival were not going to disperse at all: they marched in a solemn march along the Alexander Garden, turned around on the embankment of the Neva and reached the Peter and Paul Fortress, where the inhabitants of our city could see them the next day. On June 12, at 17.20, a luxurious flower garland was laid at the Bronze Horseman monument.

This whole flower extravaganza is not only a gift to the townspeople, not only an entertaining show, but also an attempt to show Petersburgers how significant and wonderful the profession of a florist is - an artist who works with a miracle called a flower. What is the magic of floristry, how to make a real masterpiece out of flowers, why does human intervention need to be in the natural beauty? These and other questions cannot be resolved by words: to understand this mysterious art, you just need to touch it, look, dream, think about enduring values …

The flower itself is a small piece of art created by nature. Working with flowers, making magnificent compositions of them is not only hard work of professionals, but also a great pleasure. The unique energy of the flower, its fabulous beauty and tenderness make ordinary work a real magic. And the anticipation of those positive emotions, those joyful smiles that will bloom on the faces of people who will be presented with such a bouquet is real happiness for a florist.

Today in the world there are many schools, directions and traditions of floristry; in different cities there are numerous contests and master classes for making bouquets. Everything is just beginning in our country. Looking at the works created by eminent florists, one can conclude: floristry is really an art! Art is no less important than music, literature, painting, photography, cinema, etc. Floral masterpieces are short-lived, but they are there and they are beautiful! And it is such holidays as the International Flower Festival that are designed to demonstrate knowledge that is new to many, to show people the magical world of floristry, to acquaint them with the magnificent world - the world of flowers.
