From spring to autumn frosts, the village garden pleases with its flowering

In my estate in the village of Polichno, in the Gdovsky district of the Pskov region, in recent years I have been able to create a truly beautiful garden, which pleases me and my neighbors from spring to autumn frosts.

Spring in our garden, like many other gardeners, open small-bulb crops, daffodils, crocuses, tulips bloom; Thuja western spherical are puffing, stretching with leaves of different colors of heuchera, trying to enjoy the warm rays of the sun. The gray fescue, which I have grown from seeds, begins to grow, and the small periwinkle frames it, winking with its blue eyes. In this environment, slowly, as if looking closely, a climbing rose of the Laguna variety wakes up, which will soon overshadow with its beauty the luxury of a blooming white spirea, dropping branches to the ground. Spirea will not leave anyone indifferent, people stop and admire, many villagers do not even know what kind of plant it is, they come, ask, ask for cuttings. Among the spring splendor of awakening and blooming nature, one of the first places in the sun is the imperial hazel grouse. The majesty of this blooming crown, crowned with a rosette of leaves, makes you breathless, so as not to frighten off the moment of awakening and flowering of an amazing plant.

Opposite the hazel grouse, along the veranda, sensing spring, the overwintered clematis timidly try their strength, and climbing roses shoot up their shoots to the right and left of them. Looking at the delicate green of their leaves at this time, it is hard to believe that several weeks will pass, and these plants will amaze everyone with their magnificence, delight me and everyone who sees them, with a multitude of luxurious flowers. As if envying the orange-red beauty of the Charles Austin rose, below the pansies with a phlocos are modestly winking.

Soaring up, clematis seem to compete with each other, which of them is more beautiful. They look down on the lilies spread below, exuding a divine scent. And the last decoration of the veranda is a one-time, but long-blooming Paul Scarlett rose, which is complemented by a pink peony, its flowers are the size of a human head.

The front side of our country house is decorated with a small garden in which crocuses and daisies bloom in spring, and after a while their place is taken by awakening hosts of various colors located along its edge.

Our little house becomes a real palace when Her Majesty Salita rose with huge, 18-20 cm in diameter, orange flower caps appears on the stage. And on the left and right, pink clematis with a dark stripe stretch towards the queen, and pink phloxes guard the whole kingdom. When this queen blooms, I always have anxiety, because no one can pass by indifferently: it seems to attract the eyes with a magnet with the unique beauty and freshness of the leaves and attracts with an extraordinary aroma. Thank God, so far no one has raised a hand on this beauty, but I am very worried, because she blooms in waves until winter, and is a stone's throw from the street.

Opposite the veranda there are other flower beds, in which all the same favorite roses prevail, which are complemented by other flowers. The trunk of a century-old oak tree still timidly wraps around honeysuckle honeysuckle from below, exuding an unusual aroma during flowering. Climbing roses of five varieties rise in the center, blooming until winter. Clematis grows between the oak and the roses on the supports, and in front of the roses on a special support, the future standard rose, which I planted myself, is gaining strength. It will be a weeping bole, because the Scarlett Liilander rose is grafted there, which is considered the most ceremonial rose, an adornment of any garden. When blooming, it dissolves up to five hundred flowers at a time.

The familiar rose of the New Downe variety blooms with me with its inherent pink and at the same time red color. Moreover, the aroma of red flowers is much stronger than pink. Experienced growers even recommended me to cut the red part of the rose, it is possible that some new variety was born.

I'm trying to decorate the not very presentable view of the neighbor's fence with phlox, daisies, peonies and delphinium. So that the roses do not feel lonely, for the company they planted and grow geykhera, astilbe, peonies, lilies, chamomile, phlox, pansies, clematis. In the second half of summer, chrysanthemums join this round of colors.

And between the roses climbing the arches, there is a garden strawberry. True, the mesh shelter spoils the appearance of the garden, but there is no end to the birds, and the berry harvest can only be saved in this way. I planted these Festivalnaya and Viktoria strawberries in August 1999, and they still bear fruit perfectly, and do not get sick with anything. I gave her mustache to many gardeners - everyone is happy with the high yields.

My flower beds are zoned, which makes it possible not to see everything at once. The garden invites you to explore it gradually, luring you in one direction or the other.

Behind the house, to the right, there are three oval flower beds inhabited by hybrid tea, climbing roses and floribunda roses, complemented by cineraria, arabis, and carnations. On one side of the arch, clematis of the Negritianka variety climbed, and on the other side, a climbing rose of the Flamentanz variety, also grown by me from a cutting.

There are through passages between the flower beds, which allows you to admire the flowers from any side, and you can also walk along the passages to the fruit trees growing behind the flower beds. By the way, apple trees protect my sissies from the north winds.

Among my favorites is the unique velvety cherry-colored rose of the Madame Delbar variety; it is almost on all sides surrounded by a rose of the Casanova variety, and below the rose of the Niccolo Poganini variety has opened its buds.

A small round flowerbed located between two oval ones is my special pride. In the spring, hyacinths bloom here, the Purple Castle variety grows slowly, and on the other hand, though slowly, the boxwood that I got from the cuttings grows. And the star of this flower bed is the tree-like peony of the Ulunsky diamond variety with extraordinary beauty of flowers with a diameter of 32 cm. I waited three years for its flowering.

My greatest pride and joy are the snow-white princesses, the incomparable candidum lilies. In 1999, a friend gave me one small onion. For three years she did not bloom with me, only multiplied. For some reason, I thought that she was not feeling well, and every year I transplanted to a new place. Finally my efforts were rewarded - the lilies bloomed. And even though there were not as many flowers on them as I would like, I was happy. Against the background of pink-flowered clematis and a silvery-pink climbing rose of the Rosarium Utersain variety, my lilies are especially good.

The entrance to the next “room” of my garden is under an arch with three clematis flaunting. Behind the arch there is a small mixborder, smoothly turning into an orchard. And in front of the arch there is a rabatka with lilies. I would say that there is a real kingdom of lilies. And so that both before and after the flowering of lilies the flower beds do not seem empty, between them are planted a Turkish carnation, a herbal carnation, along the edges - geykhera with red flowers, arabis, maned barley, mountain clematis and blue clematis.

Among the lilies, one specimen is stunning. Back in the spring, I noticed that something unusual was breaking through from under the grass carnation. Increasing all the time, the volume of this stem reached 28 centimeters, and I counted 205 buds on it. True, not all of them opened, apparently, the plant did not have enough strength for all the buds, but this spectacle was impressive!

In this area we have a rest bench. Fragrant plants around, exuding aromas, make you forget about fatigue. And she comes every day, because I have at my disposal 30 acres, on which there is not only a flower garden, but also a vegetable garden with beds and greenhouses, a potato field, a fruit garden. And in all corners of my site I work with the same pleasure as in flower beds.

My garden lives and changes all the time, and I think that it should be so, since life never stops.
