Garlic from the mesh. The reader advises …

I want to share my unexpected find with other summer residents. Maybe someone will take over my experience. The fact is that when I moved from the middle lane to the Leningrad region, spring garlic came out. I don’t understand what the reason is - either he did not like the local climate, or the soil was not sufficiently cultivated.

What can I say, the soil on my site is really heavy and moist. After all, the garden was abandoned for many years. As a result, I could be completely without garlic. Okay, a neighbor shared some winter garlic.

But in the spring, or rather in June, in one vegetable kiosk, the seller decided to throw out the garlic, probably everyone knows it and bought it more than once - there are three things in a net. It sprouted strongly with them and had a completely unmarketable appearance. And I decided to plant him.

Of course, I didn't know what sort and species it was. The label said it was from China. I planted three heads, but somehow, at random, did not take particular care of him. We weeded, loosened, fed along with other plants infusion of burdock and nettle, diluted 1:10. And then I look, the stems and leaves of my garlic are quite powerful, much thicker than those of the winter one. And the harvest in the fall surprised: I have not yet had such spring garlic. One head gave an arrow, I collected the bulbs.

The next year I already firmly decided - I will plant this garlic and went to the store for it. Before planting, as always, I soaked it in a pink solution of potassium permanganate. I planted it deeper, as soon as I could, by 8-10 cm (I read somewhere that garlic loves deep planting). Taking into account the fact that it forms large heads, the planting scheme chose 10x10 cm, and the bulbs - 5x5 cm. In the spring and in June, I fed him with slurry twice 1:10. And in August she sprinkled the plantings with ash.

Everyone remembers that this year was dry. There was not enough water, I watered the garlic very rarely. The ground was all cracked and was like stone. Well, I thought the harvest would be gone. The tops were, of course, worse than last year's, but the heads of garlic still turned out to be good, 5-6 cm in diameter, and from the bulbs they grew from a good bulb, much larger than that of the winter one. This is such a garlic, if only I could learn something more about it, what kind of variety it is, how did it get to us. Perhaps the experts know the answer. Maybe they will. And I advise gardeners to try planting, especially to those who have good, fertile and loose soil, you will see that it will delight you with the harvest.
