Garlic from the mesh. The reader advises …
I want to share my unexpected find with other summer residents. Maybe someone will take over my experience. The fact is that when I moved from the middle lane to the Leningrad region, spring garlic came out. I don’t understand what the reason is - either he did not like the local climate, or the soil was not sufficiently cultivated.
What can I say, the soil on my site is really heavy and moist. After all, the garden was abandoned for many years. As a result, I could be completely without garlic. Okay, a neighbor shared some winter garlic.
But in the spring, or rather in June, in one vegetable kiosk, the seller decided to throw out the garlic, probably everyone knows it and bought it more than once - there are three things in a net. It sprouted strongly with them and had a completely unmarketable appearance. And I decided to plant him.
Of course, I didn't know what sort and species it was. The label said it was from China. I planted three heads, but somehow, at random, did not take particular care of him. We weeded, loosened, fed along with other plants infusion of burdock and nettle, diluted 1:10. And then I look, the stems and leaves of my garlic are quite powerful, much thicker than those of the winter one. And the harvest in the fall surprised: I have not yet had such spring garlic. One head gave an arrow, I collected the bulbs.
The next year I already firmly decided - I will plant this garlic and went to the store for it. Before planting, as always, I soaked it in a pink solution of potassium permanganate. I planted it deeper, as soon as I could, by 8-10 cm (I read somewhere that garlic loves deep planting). Taking into account the fact that it forms large heads, the planting scheme chose 10x10 cm, and the bulbs - 5x5 cm. In the spring and in June, I fed him with slurry twice 1:10. And in August she sprinkled the plantings with ash.
Everyone remembers that this year was dry. There was not enough water, I watered the garlic very rarely. The ground was all cracked and was like stone. Well, I thought the harvest would be gone. The tops were, of course, worse than last year's, but the heads of garlic still turned out to be good, 5-6 cm in diameter, and from the bulbs they grew from a good bulb, much larger than that of the winter one. This is such a garlic, if only I could learn something more about it, what kind of variety it is, how did it get to us. Perhaps the experts know the answer. Maybe they will. And I advise gardeners to try planting, especially to those who have good, fertile and loose soil, you will see that it will delight you with the harvest.

When planting garlic with bulbs, you can get a crop of normal heads only in the second year, which means that there will not be one year from a specific unit of area. In addition, not everyone succeeds in experimenting with the propagation of shooting garlic with bulbs: someone does not know how to sow correctly; someone tried it but failed. In some, the bulbs are frozen, in others they have dried up, in others the bulbs have grown, but small. However, growing good garlic from bulbs is not

Spring garlic, summer garlic, non-shooting garlic - this is what gardeners call the garlic that we are used to planting in spring and digging up in autumn. But spring garlic can also be planted in autumn where the summer is very short and the spring garlic does not have time to ripen. Gardeners do not like him very much for his small teeth. And in my area near Vyborg, large bulbs of this garlic with excellent teeth are obtained in a hot summer when watering

Looking through the recommendations for growing garlic, sometimes you see recommendations that are not supported by practice. Perhaps, for some other regions, these recommendations are valid. This material is not intended to refute the advice and experience of other authors. I just want gardeners to pay attention to their plants and see for themselves which advice should be used in local conditions and which should not

What are large one-toothed teeth for? So after all, the largest heads grow from them. It is they who, in turn, being planted, already give several large heads. It is clear that I could not get one-toothed teeth in this way. But he was in no hurry to abandon the method. In this way, you can get a larger number of medium-sized heads, from the same area
